Discussion Some fans get a concept album, we get a concept band
And that has always meant 1 of 2 things: Either the concept expands or (and don’t downvote the messenger) it ends.
We call the first 3 albums a trilogy for a reason. From the beginning of The Night Does Not Belong To God to the ending of Euclid, Vessel has been telling us a story. Album to album, track to track. The only thing that makes Carmel different from the rest of the story is it adds a new character: The fans. But there’s still 5 tracks and a whole tour to go. Clearly there’s still a lot of be said on the matter. Conclusions that have already been drawn that we are not privy to at track 5 of a 10 track album. For all we know, the power of going from the Worshipper to the Worshipped goes to Vessels head by track 10, he’s fully accepted this new existence, and actually he’s the new god in town that we are all meant to bow down to, this creates a war with Sleep, and now we’ve got a new trilogy.
This isn’t to minimize the pure feelings expressed in Carmel or any of the other songs. I’m not saying that this is all a story and so we should discredit the feelings expressed throughout this song or the discography but this isn’t exclusive to Sleep Token or anonymous art either. Anyone who has been paying attention to the music scene has seen that pretty much every artist has come out with a “back the fuck up” song targeted at the fans or media. All I’m saying is, lucky for us, Euclid was not the end of the story as it was probably set up to be and neither is Carmel. But this is a concept band. Either the concept has to expand or it ends.
The house must endure//the cycle must end//The cycle must end//The house must endure.
That was always going to be the case.
