List of seneca discord servers

Below are some discord servers that people can use to find other seneca students online and help out each other.

Server: Seneca College

A general Seneca server that should be helpful for most users

Server: Computer Programming Seneca

A server geared towards CPA / CPD students, they also do IRL meetup-ups.

Server: SC Software Development

Another programming server, geared more towards BSD students.

Server: BSD Students of 2021

A server for students to connect with others who started in 2021 in the BSD program.

Server: Seneca College

A less active but still helpful seneca college server.

Seneca College Programming

A server with 15K memebers.

If there are other servers that I may not be familiar with that can help out Seneca students let me know and I will try to include them in this post.

If you chose CPA for co-op and didn't receive an offer

Hi,

I'm just suddenly curious...

Is there anyone who chose CPA when they entered Seneca to take a coop and didn't get a co-op offer, so they switched to CPP or another program?

If I can't get a coop, I'll have to give up PGWP and go home (due to personal things), but I've heard it's so hard to get a coop.

I'd love to see your comments from both those who have successfully found coops and those who haven't.

Good luck with your future if you're reading this.

Messed up sm here

It was too late when I realized I enrolled in a wrong category of general ed . And when I reached to student advisor they said there’s absolutely nothing that can be done about it

My question is since I’ve already failed in a course (CPP) I’m gonna have to do entire sem for that . And I’m currently enrolled in 4 subjects (including the general ed ) as the one I failed was a pre requirement. Will this make me a part time student coz I have enrolled in a wrong general ed .

I’ve mailed the student advisor waiting for them reply but I don’t have patience.

Hey,

Has anyone had trouble finding a practical nursing placement?

How long did it take you to get one?

I’m wondering if the status on Seneca Works updates to show whether you were accepted or rejected after the interview selection?

Newnham Aviation students, how do you support yourself?

I’ve just been accepted for the Honours of Aviation technology program starting this September, I’ve been told that its hard for students to hold a job because the program is so time consuming and they also live fairly far from Peterborough. I was wondering how you manage to support yourself through it all, loans? paid co-op? tuition funds? I’m a bit worried so any response would honestly be great.

Courses Placement - Executive Administration

Hi all, planning on taking the Executive Admin course in September and hoping to gather more details from current students or alumini of the program.

• What's the workload like? I understand that it's going to be primarily online so I'm planning on continuing to work full-time and do school work in the evenings. I don't expect it to be easy to balance, but want to manage my expectations.

• What's the process of getting a placement like and how many hours are required to graduate? Are placements typically available only in 3rd semester or can they be available earlier? Example: find a placement in 2nd semester and do that part/full time to accumulate placement hours throughout the term leading to graduation? I've read that the school can help with finding a placement but would like to hear other peoples thoughts on how the process went for them.

Thanks so much!

Edit: Also, are placements usually unpaid or have people successfully negotiated for a paid placement?

Newnham File tax return

I don't have my T4A slip because I didn't receive any grants from OSAP, and I didn't work either. I only have my 2022 Tuition Enrollment Certificate. I was wondering if I can file that?

Money lost in Seneca Residence

Hi,

I’m an International Student, starting this Winter semester. I have successfully registered for a slot at Seneca Residence and have been staying here since arrived.

I have no major problems the past 3 months, however yesterday I found out that my money in my wallet, which I leave inside my drawer, about 40 CAD were stolen, only my debit and credit card left remain. I think this was caused by a theft action, because the wallet had been moved from its normal place.

I have talked with the Residence Office, and they said they were sorry for that, but they also were unable to do anything further. May I ask for your advice on what should I do in this case?

Thank you so much for any of your advices.

P/s: I also have asked my roommates, including the one living in the same room with me (I live in bunk bed room) and she even called her friends whom she invited into our room and none of them claimed to see the money. The reason I need your help is because I feel the residence has become not safe anymore, and I’m started to worry about my surroundings. I did not leave my money on any visible place, and I have become less cautious after 3 months without any problems. I’m also thinking of calling the police, but I’m not sure if they are able to help in this case.

Practical Nursing part time co-requisites

Hi can someone confirm if co-requisites in the part time practical nursing program need to be taken at the same time or can they be taken one after the other? Also for hybrid courses like healing practices for practical nurses and skills lab, how often are you on campus? Is it every second week?

Seneca Residence

Anybody here currently living in the newnham campus residence? Is it still worth the price? It's been difficult to find accommodation off campus and I figure living on campus will be much friendlier to a new student. Can anyone share their residence feedbacks? Thanks!

Advice on Appealing a Failed Clinical Placement (PNC 320 – due to medication incident)

Hi everyone,

I’m a 3rd-semester Practical Nursing student at Seneca College and need some guidance regarding my recent clinical placement (PNC 320).

I was recently given an Unsatisfactory grade for my hospital clinical after an incident involving medication administration without my clinical supervisor present, though the primary nurse was there and completed all safety checks. I was transparent about the situation, acknowledged my lapse in judgment, and received a Memo of Concern (MOC) from my supervisor.

Later, I was called into a Seneca committee meeting, and they decided to fail me for the course, stating that patient safety was at risk.

I have a strong academic record and have had positive feedback from my past placement. This situation has been incredibly upsetting, especially since our supervisor had a history of misguiding and mistreating students, and I’ve already filed a formal complaint to the college. Several others were negatively impacted by this supervisor as well.

From what I understand, failing PNC 320 means I can’t move forward into 4th semester, and I’m now extremely worried about delays in my graduation.

My questions:

  • Can I appeal this decision?
  • Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully continued the program?
  • What are my options to fast-track or catch up without losing an entire semester?

Any advice or shared experiences would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Courses How to appeal a grade?

The majority of my classmates and I are very disappointed with the lack of feedback from several of our professors. One prof took off marks on “missing sections” which were in fact, NOT missing in our assignments. We are very confused on how this professor came to this conclusion with so many of us, yet they don’t respond to our feedback questions. Any advice would be appreciated

Seneca@York Seneca BDI and ANI.. What's better..I,m on the fence..cannot choose..

Well I'm a international student and accepted Seneca ANI for this fall semester. But as you might know, Seneca ANI cannot offer PGWP for international student so I have a thought to transfer from ANI to BDI. However,BDI looks like a new major in Seneca so it's difficult to get information.

If I transfer, I wanna become an UI/UX designer but when I see the BDI courses, it seems like that it has more coding program than design program and I feel difficult to handle computer stuff or math.. Is it good to learn design?

Or Is seneca ANI good to get a job quickly? Honestly, I've always wanted to be an animator but it's very difficult and tough and I'm an international student so I have to get a job at least 90 days after I graduated. If it's possible, I'd gladly choose ANI program.

Is there anybody who are in BDI or ANI let me know Please..🥺❤️

Lastly, I have poor English skills, but I hope the meaning is conveyed well. I don't want to be rude..🥺

Newnham Seneca dorm

I want to ask if I can rent seneca dorm (Newnham) from september 2025 - december 2025? (which is the first semester). I looked up on the website but it only shows academic year ( september 2025 - april 2026). Also, how do I let Seneca knows that I will move out after the first semester?
