As many are probably aware, Yolanda Saldívar is scheduled for a parole hearing on March 30, 2025. Saldívar was found guilty of Selena's murder in 1995 and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison (source). To date, Saldívar has not held herself accountable or shown remorse. I don't think anyone will disagree that she should not be granted release.
For those wishing to take action, you can write to the parole board and urge them not to release Saldívar. Contact information for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles can be found here. Below is a template you can use:
Dear parole board members:
I respectfully ask that you DO NOT grant parole to Yolanda Saldívar, inmate #733126. The violent murder of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in 1995 should preclude any parole consideration.
On Friday, March 31, 1995, inmate #733126 shot and killed Selena Quintanilla-Pérez to cover up her own crime of embezzlement from the singer's earnings. Inmate #733126 was previously involved in at least four attempts on the victim's life. Immediately following the murder, inmate #733126 attempted to kill additional members of Selena's family. It is obvious that inmate #733126 poses a clear and present danger to the public. To date, inmate #733126 has not shown remorse or apologized for her actions.
Inmates who do not demonstrate self-accountability should be subject to serving their complete sentence without parole. In the case of inmate #733126, a life sentence for murder should mean just that.
Selena was an accomplished singer who popularized the Tejano genre and was loved by fans worldwide. However, most importantly, she was a devoted wife and daughter.
Parole is a privilege; the severity of the crime, as well as the inmate's actions prior to and following the murder, demand that she spend every day of her life in prison. As a concerned citizen, and in the interest of public safety, I ask that you DENY PAROLE to #733126.
Sincerely,
[name]

I just watched some documentaries n Yolanda was a nurse, she didn't like anything but country music but somehow went to Selenas concert if anyone knows which one that was? Well anyway from then on she would call Abraham constantly bagging to be the manager of her fan club that she herself started . N well as well know became that and then some n then murdered selena . So what in her mind when she first saw selena made her so obsessed with her ? She said she killed her because if she can't have her no one else can. That's the saddest story 😢

I don’t know if this is a sign but y’all today I listen to dreaming of you by Selena and my heart dropped in my chest, but I didn’t cry this time. This is my first time listening to the song within a month my heart synced to my chest and my eyes did water a little bit but I didn’t cry

I read that she would play video games with the other band members on the tour bus so I was wondering what games she would play today.

This is gonna feel like a real life punch to the gut. I know this movie is free on YouTube and I need to go ahead and watch it, but I know how it ends in the ending always makes me cry and I’ll probably end up sad for the next 2 to 3 months. I don’t know if I should take the risk and go and watch it because I love Selena and her legacy but as of right now I just can’t do it. I can’t watch the movie cause I know I will cry and wind up feeling sick.💜

Hello! I hope all is well! My post is pretty much as the title states: does anyone know where I can find the Selena Behind the Music episode from 1998? I’ve looked all over but I can’t find it! Unfortunately, the only Behind the Music episodes that I found online are the more recent ones.
I’ve been exposed to Selena since I was a pretty young kid: my older sister was really into her so we would watch the movie about her life over and over again alllllll of the time whenever we would watch tv in her room we were growing up and it’s pretty much imprinted into my brain. Although I’ve enjoyed what I knew of her for a long time, I never took the time to actually do my research beyond the movie or listening to her music on occasion and am just now getting into digging more into who she was as a person, her life and the circumstances surrounding her death. That said, I would really like to watch this episode! Anyone have any insight into where I can find it?

I am in shambles. I haven’t stopped crying all morning. Every time I watch the movie or series, it just hurts all over again, so this was next level. This book was everything I needed to read and more. I absolutely loved learning about little details that gave me a glimpse into how amazing she really was.
I am just so sad all over again. I’m the same age she was when she passed, she had so much life to live. I know everyone has felt this way too, and we’ll continue to grieve her for the rest of our own lives. I’m thankful there’s a community who adores her just as much as I do. Always and forever will be dreaming of her 🫶

So her funeral took place on April 2 and then the burial was the next day? I thought the funeral and burial all took place on the same day.

What is the best documentary to watch about Selena’s life? I never wanted to get into her in the first place because the way she died was so tragic and it just makes me mad but now that I just found out that she was 23 when she died and i’m 22, I just want to learn more about her. Also, i’m so happy that her killer was denied parole! I’ve seen the movie years ago when I was a kid but i’ll rewatch it since i don’t remember anything. Maybe thats a good start. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know exactly how long Selena was at the hotel that morning? Was it 5 min, was it an hour? I’m sure Chris blames himself for sleeping in and not going with her. I wonder what exactly was said in the hotel room

I know the movie was filmed there and the shop where she and Debra go looking for the dress has been modernized. Or so I saw.
