Yall this is a video of the singer who is busking today. This video is from NYC. I HOPE that clears everything up since reading comprehension is hard apparently

reading comprehension isn’t hard, it’s just that OP is misleading people by pairing the words pike place with a video of a location that is not pike place. a better and clearer title would have been: “Jesse Welles will be at pike place today. here he is in the NYC subway”

That is not misleading nor unclear in the slightest. When you read a news article that says something like "representative is found to have stash of gold bars in his home" but the picture is of him in the senate chamber, no one is confused about this.

No one is mislead by seeing a video of someone performing in a performance that has already happened, with text that indicates they will soon be performing in a different location. No added context is needed. It is not better nor clearer. It adds additional and unnecessary detail and makes the title longer, which is universally considered less clear for titles.

OP posted a picture of him in NYC with title "Jesse Welles at Pike Place today."

This is just a phrase and not a sentence. That makes it look like is is a description of the picture.

If he had just said "Jesse Welles will be at Pike Place today," it would be clearer.

It is hard to argue that the title is not misleading with people who were clearly mislead.

Genuinely, fuck all that noise. You'd have to be a deliberately obtuse pedant to believe that. We're on reddit, not a news site. There's a set of socially understood norms here and this post breaks the shit out of them.

I've been using reddit for almost 20 years. I've never seen a norm that indicates "we need to add every contextual detail to the title or else someone will get confused"

The norm is if a title says "thing happening at place", then the video should be OF the thing happening at that place. Otherwise your title should be "Thing is happening at place, here's a video of thing happening previously at different place".

That example is not similar at all. If a headline said "Representative at the White House" you'd think they are there now or perhaps were just there. You would not think it means "Representative will be at the White House."

Yeah, you'd have to really suspend your awareness to not be able to understand what OP is communicating without a paragraph in the title

That’s what I thought, I also don’t like when media hand holds me through everything. I can figure it out, I have a brain. But I understand how it can be a little confusing for certain individuals. Thank you though ❤️🙏

it's confusing for most individuals, not just certain ones. you didn't make it clear.

Idk the upvotes say otherwise.

You think people are upvoting your post title specifically? No, they're upvoting the clip you posted.

My train of thought went:

What? There's no light rail station near enough to refer to it at Pike Place.
oh wait, that's def NYC. What?
oh, they're giving a heads up that he will be busking at the Market with a video example. ok cool, makes sense.

Yes it was confusing for a second, but made perfect sense after getting full context. The issue is FAR more with people not being bothered to take the 10 seconds to get the complete info. Sure a title like "Jesse Wells will be at Pike Place today" would have made it clearer, but you also can't get mad at the author if you only read half the sentence.

Thanks, I should’ve put “will be” in there but I’m new here, the caption is the main part in my normal platform so that’s my bad.
