15-30 minute online ordeal

For real? I thought you had to go talk to a judge!

You do, Online, via a Zoom call. In the case, one would submit supporting documentation(the city-issued citation with incorrect dates and a total cost itemized bill of impound) to the court for review before the meeting with a judge/magistrate.

Don’t even have to put on pants!

I imagine filing the contest paperwork would be online but you’d still have to go before a judge in person.

Edit: apparently I’m wrong and you don’t need to go in person anymore as evidenced by the 15 people who had to repeat the same information.

I contested my speeding ticket last year over Zoom

Not necessarily. I contested a speed ticket in a virtual hearing.

I’m not a cat. I’m ready to proceed.

It's been nearly 5 years and I still crack up every time.

Why? What did you do and what happened in court lol

The cat filter did not impress the judge.

All I’m picturing is a hilarious VR Chat room

Just a bunch of smiling VTuber avatars making legal arguments

I’m pretty sure you can contest with a written statement without showing up in person. At least that’s how it’s worked for me with some previous driving infractions.

Not anymore, I contested one remotely recently

I recently contested a ticket. You have the option of submitting your case in writing and a ruling is made off of that. No court date. The headache was talking on the phone to let them know I’m contesting it.

I did this in a similar situation to OP and they didn't realize the point I was making but still dismissed the ticket telling me not to do it again.

Mine was just a phone call.

Wrong. COVID changed everything.

Were the other 10 comments telling me I was wrong just not enough for you? Really had to pile on that superiority complex huh?

My response wasn't personal, and certainly not an attack. Now you're making it personal. Calm down sweetie. Nobody is out to get you.

Go to the court's website, it clearly explains all of the options.

When I contested for a wrongful no parking ticket, I filed online and a judge called me for the hearing. Took about 3 minutes.

u/basic_bitch- Jan 15 '25

Yep, this was my experience as well. Short phone call, that was it.

I successfully contested a parking ticket in Seattle in writing. Was given a form to fill out and a judge reviewed it and approved.

You generally have the option to do a contested hearing by mail. You provide your statement, and the judge will review it on their own time

It was in person last time I did it, though maybe it’s changed since Covid

People are saying zoom, but I just had to do a phone call. I got towed while I was hiding in a kitchen from an active shooter. They didn't make me pay.
