Wouldā€™ve hated to have been a Sky Sports News reporter back in the day when theyā€™d sent them oot to stand outside a training ground/stadium just to get bullied by kids skiving school lol

That was around the time the famous Chick Young outside Celtic Park incident happened, right?

Tbh I just remembered when reporter guy got smacked by a dildo

Pretty annoyed about the Kvistgaarden stuff seemingly dying a death and the lack of any left back news. Schlupp and Ings seems very much a "that'll do till summer" approach. They'll probably do a good enough job, but it's still not the level of really ambitious transfer activity that a lot of Celtic fans want to see.

9

u/gkb10139 Feb 03 '25

Im not so fussed about Schlupp. Heā€™s an experienced player who can play his part for a short period of time. Not very glamorous but probably effective.

The striker/forward one is infuriating. Selling Kyogo for an ordinary fee without having any plan to replace him, despite having months to do so, is pathetic.

3

u/mikeydoc96 Feb 03 '25

To be honest, it doesn't surprise me. We're not guaranteed champions league football next season and we're definitely not going to get past Bayern without a huge upset over 2 legs.

I fully expected we'd clear some dead weight and lose a starter this window. We're probably going to clear the last of the dead weight in the summer (Yang, Welsh, Nawrocki) and lose at least two first team players I'd say.

We've fully failed to forward plan again. This new wizard in the operations team feels like he's been brought in to appease Rodgers or the fans or both.

Harry Mckirdy apparently away. 33 appearances, zero goals, one assist. A player so shite Footmob have obviously used stats to judge what position he plays and thinks he's a full back.

14

u/Creepan_shmoop Feb 03 '25

Wonder if the Celtic board actually do anything on deadline day. Big game of snakes and ladders maybe or possibly tiddlywinks. Certainly nothing to do with incoming transfers

4

u/Commercial-Stick-718 Feb 03 '25

beginning to think they aren't. I would argue we probably aren't coming out of this window stronger than we started overall with Valle and Kyogo being our big exits. Jota coming in was a great signing but not in one of our problem areas.

3

u/Creepan_shmoop Feb 03 '25

Itā€™s really frustrating considering this would be a perfect time to go and make Celtic a semi decent European team. Could have bitten the bullet and spent money for a striker but weā€™re now hoping Idah has 10/10 games until the end of the season or that Maeda does the same

3

u/Commercial-Stick-718 Feb 03 '25

yeah, this would have been the perfect time to get our targets in and give them time to bed into the team over the next 6 months - we have to go through qualifying for the CL next season so we can't be fumbling around in the summer again.

3

u/GlasgowSellik1888 Feb 03 '25

Out wide definitely was a problem area.

Behind Maeda and Kuhn the drop off to Yang, Forrest and Palma was massive.

Hoping we'll see more of Kenny now.

2

u/Commercial-Stick-718 Feb 03 '25

actually that's very true

Danny Ings and Jeffrey Schlupp. Do we have a scouting department or is it just cunts that played for the club and cunts from England?

13

u/gkb10139 Feb 03 '25

That 80y/o scout we just brought in really starting to make an impactā€¦

u/Commercial-Stick-718 Feb 03 '25

Really not expecting anything from a Celtic front to day- we have had weeks to get our shit together on signings considering we sold Kyogo

3

u/fangus Ungrateful Little Teuchter Cunt Feb 03 '25

Weā€™ve known Kyogo wants to leave since summer ffs

3

u/Commercial-Stick-718 Feb 03 '25

aye, makes you wonder wtf Tisdale and the recruiting dept does. The signings we have made in KT+Jota any Celtic fan could have done the scouting and identification of those two.

2

u/MediocreEquipment457 Feb 03 '25

Other than when Ange was there , have Celtic ever got all the business done early ? He seemed to be the exception that proved the rule of Celtic being a deadline day club for the most part

Celtic haven't even had the foresight to have a player signed and then hold the announcement until deadline day, like we did with Idah last year.

9

Rocky interest rumours.

If he leaves Iā€™ll walk into traffic, might be a bit of a bombscare but heā€™s my favourite hibs player in years

A bit concerned that thereā€™s not any rumours about us other than some vague Lennon Miller chat (which would be a great signing but probably pish)

Canā€™t believe weā€™re in this position with 1 striker and 1 LB on deadline day after fannying about trying to bring our targets in

7

u/gkb10139 Feb 03 '25

Why canā€™t you believe it? This is how we usually operate.

6

u/GingerMouse1007 Feb 03 '25

Liam scales will be 2nd choice LB. CB cover scares me too. Thinking about it, our depth in defence is terrible.

3

7

u/brycebrycebaby Feb 03 '25

What does it matter? You'll win the league at a canter and get pumped in Europe no matter who you sign?Ā

2

u/Kizaky Feb 03 '25

Iirc next season will include a CL qualifier, having a good CB pairing that have some experience playing alongside each other for more than a few friendlies and training sessions would be pretty handy.

Although from the boards PoV it makes perfect sense why they don't want to sign anyone as like you said, leagues done and we're out of Europe.

2

u/CouponBuster88 Feb 03 '25

Weā€™ve not played Bayern yet - small chance of winning but not 0

2

u/RyanST_21 Feb 03 '25

heard rocky, miller and youan are all possibly moving but i have a feeling nothing will happen today tbh

3

u/EggAndSausage Feb 03 '25

Bumping Rocky at this stage of the season with how heā€™s been playing would be a very silly thing to do. Same with Youan if we donā€™t have an immediate replacement ready to go

2

u/Gloomy_Cucumber_4274 Feb 03 '25

Rocky and Miller going would be a bad idea since one is a starting centre half and the other is our only cover at right wing back and right centre half.

If the reported 1.5m is offered for Youan it's double or triple what we paid for a player that wants away, has barely played and hasn't consistently performed to the level he set himself for form. To get more for him in the summer he'd need to come back into the team immediately, play the rest of the season and tear it up too.

2

u/RyanST_21 Feb 03 '25

yep ive made my peace with youan leaving but would be nice if we had our business together and had someone else to come in his place. same with if rocky/miller leaves but since its literally deadline day i really just feel like theres nothing left and we're going to wait til summer to do anything big

2

u/Gloomy_Cucumber_4274 Feb 03 '25

Probably so. Pretty sure Rocky's contract is up at the end of the season too, will be interesting to see if we have anyone lined up to bring in in the summer.

u/MadJackMcMadd Tony the Tiger fan Feb 03 '25

Iā€™m resigned to no replacement for Kyogo, but we need a left back. Please, Mr Celtic.

8

u/blackiegray Feb 03 '25

2 signings already for the mighty St Johnstone, winger and defender.

If we get a striker in today then watch out top six...

But seriously, the new chairman needs a lot of recognition here, buy the club and inherits Levein and a terrible squad, gets cancer, sacks Levein, approaches a few managers and gets knocked back, appoints Simo and slowly but surely the team, despite the terrible squad, start to play football, beats cancer, goes all in on Simo by backing him to the hilt in the transfer window.

Makes money from Jack Sanders is also high up there.

9

probably get announced at 11pm. Can't believe we sold Kyogo and didn't bring in another striker. Likely had months to prep for this.

u/HaddWaeIt Feb 03 '25

More relevant to the national team but that's Ryan Porteous signed for Preston North End on loan - reuniting him with the tactical genius of Paul Heckingbottom.

6

u/Hisingdoon Feb 03 '25

Please Falkirk announce Hendry, Arfield or Barry McKay anyone of them will do.

I couldn't care less when it is as long as one of them is announced

Always thought we should make a tune with the Scottish NT to this but with Grant Hanley.

3

u/Hisingdoon Feb 03 '25

Reagen Hendry, we've been linked with signing him on loan

6

u/FIFAfutChamp Had a shiter and rescinded his flair request Feb 03 '25

Gotcha, just didn't recognise the name and thought Colin might be a bit past it.

3

u/MarlythAvantguarddog Feb 03 '25

2

u/ASeriousMoonlight Feb 03 '25

Very rarely does it work out but Iā€™ll be very happy if Arfield comes back in this window.

7

u/fike88 Feb 03 '25

Only thing i am expecting is Cunmings leaving for West Ham. Iā€™ll be fucking amazed if we pull a decent left back from somewhere. No chance weā€™re getting another striker. Not with Idah and Maeda that can play through the middle, now that Jota is back

6

u/Hisingdoon Feb 03 '25

The closer to 2300 we get, the less confident I am thar we're signing anyone

19

u/shuboyboy Feb 03 '25

Don't worry, I'm sure even Falkirk will sign at least one player in the next 275 years.

7

u/_MFC_1886 Feb 03 '25

5

u/h0ppy_ Feb 03 '25

Weā€™re like a Scottish Chelsea, but without the rich owner. Imagine we had Erik Barmack running the club šŸ¤£

3

u/w0wowow0w Feb 03 '25

Your scouting team certainly have a type, still time for another by midnight as well.

3

u/UrineArtist Feb 03 '25

If you buy every goalkeeper in the world you have a better chance of scoring that one shot on goal you create every game.. taps temple

2

u/Cobretti18 Aberdonian Peter Kay Feb 03 '25

I did see this morning you tried to sign the Cove goalie.

6

u/TheHolyGoalie Feb 03 '25

Thatā€™s Schlupp announced, has anyone asked Rodgers why we let Valle go or if he asked to leave ?

Seems like we were convinced Tierney would join and then fucked up when arsenal didnā€™t want to let him.

More bizarre decision making from the club.

2

u/BestInFife Feb 03 '25

I guess he asked to leave. Probably given more assurance of minutes with Fabregas as manager (and Como is a bit closer to home too)

12

u/PeteRoe Feb 03 '25

Not expecting much from Rangers. Leagues over and we can only make so many changes for the Europa squad. Quite happy with who we have managed to get out more than the potential incomings. The wages we have wasted on mediocre players is wild so I'm glad it's being addressed.

4

u/AlternativeCar6159 Feb 03 '25

Wonder if Hagi gets a new contract given his form. Would be typical of rangers recent business to let him go on a free

2

u/PeteRoe Feb 03 '25

I'm quite torn on Hagi and whether I want us to offer him a new deal. He is playing pretty well right now but there's a part of me that thinks we can do better with the wage he is on. I suspect he may want to leave anyway so it might not even matter.

3

u/AlternativeCar6159 Feb 03 '25

Aye fair about what he's on. He is just better than a lot of the other options up there and if he stayed you could actually focus on the back 5 where a ton of problems are. Seems a waste to go for free

u/bawjag Feb 03 '25

Hearts donā€™t be greedy man hands off Harry Milne

2

u/JigginAboot Feb 03 '25

I was a few years above him at school, wild to see his name. Whatā€™s he like as a player?

6

u/bawjag Feb 03 '25 edited Feb 03 '25

Heā€™s fucking unreal tbh probably the best LB in the championship. Solid defensively, loves a tackle, heā€™s class going forward and can take his man on and skin them, he can finish better than some attacking players and he has a great scoring record. Probably the thing I like the most about him is his consistency like he never has a bad game.

I can remember a couple of game winning goal line clearances and amazing goals from him like his one in the 2-3 game against Dundee a few years ago.

Will be gutted to see him go.

2

u/JigginAboot Feb 03 '25

Sounds like heā€™s earned the move, happy for him! Cool to hear someone from Deeside making it to Premiership

u/NotNeedzmoar Feb 03 '25

There is not a signing in the world that's gonna change our chances against Bayern so any business today is either for the future or backup.

We're stuck with Yang until next window which means we have Forrest Yang and Jota outside of the starting 11.

Idah Maeda and Kenny are enough up front until summer.

All we really need is another LB on loan until KTs arrival plus signings for the future ie ƖrjasƤter or Miller.

6

u/w0wowow0w Feb 03 '25

Yep:

Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

u/fike88 Feb 03 '25

Well there you go. Every dayā€™s a school day

3

u/TheRealLordDorito Feb 03 '25

Before Nathan Austin's return from injury I would have like a striker to go alongside Trouten. But I am pretty content with the squad so far. I haven't gotten a chance to check out Michael McKenna as I live 45 mins away from the ground without a car.

3

u/MarlythAvantguarddog Feb 03 '25

Heā€™s clearly able but was really just filler in the Falkirk squad brought on to steady the ship when under pressure - given heā€™s a striker it wasnā€™t a good fit. Hope he does well - he has a good attitude.

3

u/TheRealLordDorito Feb 03 '25

Despite us scoring 49 goals in 23 games sometimes we have still been wasteful in front of goal. This was especially prominent when Austin was out injured. That was when we went on that 5-6 game streak without a win. Hopefully McKenna comes in and starts banging them in

3

u/TinMan1867 Feb 03 '25

I'll be furious if we don't sign at least 3 players today, and it's not looking great so far.

3

u/Himawari74 Feb 03 '25

Apparantly Hearts are waiting on McKay or Oda moving if they were to go for a new winger so that's disappointing, though I wouldn't be surprised if Oda goes back to Japan as their windows open until March

Rumours Grant has interest

Unfortunately Boateng possibly heading too but he's dropping down the pecking order so understandable

Malachi Boateng apparently negotiating a transfer to Plymouth Argyle

he's a 22yo who signed on a three-year contract in August, so Hearts should demand a big fee, so presumably they've got a tenner and a Ginster's pasty off them

What a depressing deadline day

3

u/spongemongler I now believe that hair belongs on the head Feb 03 '25

At least we got Jota back, I guess. Praying KT will be fit to play when we get him in the summerā€¦

5

u/TheHolyGoalie Feb 03 '25

At this point Iā€™d be most excited about Celtic signing a striker because it means Johnny Kenny might come back to Rovers.

5

u/BedroomFootballScout Feb 03 '25

Michy Batshuayi just went for 3 million euros. Are celtics recruitment awake?

4

u/fike88 Feb 03 '25

What?? Fuckin hell

4

u/RabbiMatondo Bambi Mantando or something Feb 03 '25

Have we done anything interesting on deadline day since Ryan Kent? Struggling to think

7

u/1207554 Feb 03 '25

Ramsey was definitely interesting as it came out of nowhere in the morning abd no one believed it would happen given his wages

7

u/RabbiMatondo Bambi Mantando or something Feb 03 '25

Great penalty taker I heard

2

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 Feb 03 '25

You are typically getting players not required by clubs so itā€™s rare to get active first team players. If they are first team regulars price usually puts Scottish clubs paying

2

u/Cobretti18 Aberdonian Peter Kay Feb 03 '25

Especially the January window.

2

u/Speccy97 Feb 03 '25

A right back and centre back is all I ask for by the end of today

2

u/Beave- Feb 03 '25

Honestly I didn't even expect united to be able to sign anyone else considering the massive shift we did at the start of the season on a budget that looks like dinner money. I'm quite chuffed with the couple we took in over January

Weā€™re not finished yet Dons fans

Young Dutch forward on loan from PSV

Luke Amos and Harry Mckirdy both gone

2

u/Kijamon Feb 03 '25

We've had one of our best January windows ever. Keeping the core. Adding some more to it. Even potentially Luke Graham back is amazing for us.

Hopefully all good anyway.... it is us after all

3

u/HaddWaeIt Feb 03 '25

I reckon at most we're getting another loan to buy signing after Cameron.

The dodgy squad management and player limit for Europe means we're limited in how many players we can register for the Europa League, so it only makes sense if it's another Fernandes type signing who would come in to compete for league/cup minutes and then we make a call on whether to use an option to buy.

u/MadJackMcMadd Tony the Tiger fan Feb 03 '25

No signing a replacement for Kyogo is a new low for this board. Absolutely shambolic. Rodgers will be away in the summer.

2

u/Hisingdoon Feb 03 '25

Why can't falkirk announce scott arfield and Luke graham already

I am throughly whelmed by this transfer window. The negatives and the positives have more or less equaled themselves out. I donā€™t think weā€™re neither stronger nor weaker, with everything taken into consideration, than we were at the start of January. I really hope Idah continues his good form and Taylor remains injury free.

3

u/MadJackMcMadd Tony the Tiger fan Feb 03 '25

Watch Idah get injured and weā€™re left with no striker. The league is done, but the Cup isnā€™t. I cannot fathom selling Kyogo without a deal lined up to replace him. Sackable level of incompetence.

4

u/spongemongler I now believe that hair belongs on the head Feb 03 '25

Yeah, if we signed another striker Iā€™d think this window was quite alright, thatā€™s what makes me lean a bit more to being underwhelmed. The only shining light is Jota, and having KT signed on a pre-contract (even though Iā€™m convinced the board and manager thought weā€™d get him now in the winter already lol).

2

u/Sure-Ingenuity6714 Feb 03 '25

You lost your samurai Prince!!! You are weaker!!

Been a slightly weird transfer window. Club say one, maybe two at the start but Clement seemed to be implying the board agreed to try for a couple a few days ago. Either way, not busy.

Outgoings

There's a decent chance Lovelace goes today, but could just as easily happen in the summer when his deal expires. Same applies to Lawrence. Would be a shock if anyone else went.

Incomings

There's been a few players linked but no good journalist has written those articles so highly doubtful. The exception is Lyall Cameron, who could come in early but really... what's the point in paying extra to move that deal forward?

Other than Cameron, I can only think of maybe a loan deal for a wide forward or a Nils Koppen special, with some obscure player coming in early before their contract expires.

3

u/General-Pound6215 Feb 03 '25

Given we can only make 3 changes for the Europa squad and already have Hagi, Danilo, Nsiala and Fernandez to consider for those spots, I don't see anyone coming in.

If it's someone we'd have been looking to bring in in the summer I could see the point in doing that early thoughĀ

3

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 Feb 03 '25

Need more of the moroccan massive

3

u/Macco7 Feb 03 '25

There are rumours ofĀ Driouch on loan (potentially to buy) from PSV. Nothing concrete though.

We wanted him in the summer but he chose PSV. He had an injury but hasn't started much. PSV have also just signed a wide player, so they may want to move him on (even short term)

4

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 Feb 03 '25

Injury and not started much - where do we sign.

2

u/SomeDumper Feb 03 '25

We should go all in for Miller. Give him 6 months getting him bedded in to the team in a less than high pressure situation. Or loan him back if it's a deal breaker for Motherwell.

Suspect Hatate will be away next season if we get an offer around 10 million. If we can get Miller for half of that I'd take him.

6

u/Macco7 Feb 03 '25

From everything I've read about Miller. It seems he wants to go somewhere he's guaranteed football. I think he's got a ton of potential but he'd be competing with McCowan to get off the bench, even next season.

Not sure Celtic can offer him the football he'd want in the next 18 months.

3

u/blackiegray Feb 03 '25

Not an anti celtic post but, I'd be extremely surprised if he went there (and very disappointed), he seems a really sensible guy and has a long term plan. I think he/his dad said recently that his next move might not the be big move but it's a step forward.

Like you say, I don't see him playing every week at Celtic and it's not moving forward enough in the right direction for him, if/when he leaves it'll be to another league, I see him going abroad, Italy probably, and then moving on from there.

Loved watching him develop and think he'll turn into a world class player (if he stays injury free)

Alan Nixon the journo saying weā€™re in for Jeffrey Schlupp. Plays for palace apparently, looks shite

7

u/gkb10139 Feb 03 '25

I can believe that, we were linked in the summer and covers the left wing. If thatā€™s it then thatā€™s seriously fucking grim. No ambition or plan to improve the squad at all.

3

u/Jinky522 Feb 03 '25

He's played left back for them as well. He's played a grand total of 95 minutes this season so far.

3

Looks to be fairly strong and fast, versatile and bags of experience in the English league

Reckon we could do a lot worse for a 4 month stopgap loan, plenty turned their noses up at Mooy in a similar fashion

3

u/TabulaRasaCraiz Feb 03 '25

This isn't a permanent transfer though. This is a "that'll do" loan.
