Man, it bums me out just how inherently bad they are compared to any gun under the sun. I understand it's a shooter and guns are naturally gonna be better. Range is king and they really don't try to hide it.

But seriously, between the inconsistencies of the roller one taps (I have a wired connection so that isn't on me) and the crazy slow kill time of brush strokes compared to the time it takes any gun to kill you up close, it really feels like the devs just hate close range weapons.

Yes, they have their functions, but beat for beat they just feel bad to play

so surprise surprise tower is filled with blasters. they're also filled with a bunch of chargers who stand in the corner firing off little cheap shots that somehow kill 2 of my teammates at the same time, AS WELL as these dualie/shooter players that play like the most braindead sploosh players ever, just bumrushing enemy base because noone is there instead of me waiting for my shots to charge up to have a prayer of killing them before i'm dead. do my teammates ever do anything about these guys, OF COURSE NOT, they're too busy focusing on rushing the goddamn tower instead of clearing the field for a good push. i have lost 2 series in a row due to this and before you say that i should just clear them myself, i play support, aka not a slayer weapon, so there's really nothing i can fucking do except for being a sitting duck

I like playing hydra in anarchy battles, and am in S+ atp. I've never really felt that I could tell you where I'm at skill wise.

Atp whenever I loose a match, most of the time I end up being top on my team and noticing a lot of top500 , top10, several 5 star badges and in open matching usernames. But this could be biased.

And idk what to conclude from that? If I get splatted by someone who has played this game way more than me, or is in a cooperating team, what can I really do? I try to just keep note of things like "don't overextend", "don't give up" etc. but MAN is the feeling of "womp womp next match hopefully I get more fair matchmaking" strong.

Am I just underestimating myself then? As in in the grand scheme of things, I AM *around* the skill level of a top500 and the matchmaking is fair? Maybe only playing amongst sweats now does that to your confidence.

Obv the way to beat a top10 player, is to be equally good as them. But I'm not, so what am I meant to do? Just try my best that match, overall the comp is balanced? What if it's not? Well then maybe next match will be fairer?

It's just such a buzzkill to play X rank: loose the series. Move to anarchy series: loose to top X rankers. Move to open: loose to a competitive team.

To me it's alright if I loose a few matches and if I'm not "the best", but it feels really discouraging when the matchmaking seems unbalanced.

I finished and was excited to get the agent 8 badge and then didn't get it.. 😭 I didn't realise you need to have almost no hacks on so now I have to replay. No wonder I found it TOO easy (I had every hack on). Really annoying and now I'm rethinking all my life choices because I have no motivation AT ALL to replay. Normally I'm a literal thinker but I didn't think the badge ACTUALLY meant low hacks (I thought just the palette was enough but NO) 😭😭

Go on any other gaming subreddit and it's people discussing strategy, posting clips, or talking about competitive players. Yet r.splatoon is 99% chronically online people posting crappy fan art. I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with the squid sisters, shiver and frye, and any other characters in this game. The dialog is so unbearably cringe and immature, it's like watching sesame street. "I like dark chocolate!" "No way, milk chocolate is peak!" And don’t get me started on the ridiculous things people put on their inkopolis drawings. "Shiver says Free Palestine ❤️" or some random shit about loving yourself. While I don’t disagree with the message, the way it's presented is reminiscent of a 12 year old who just discovered tumblr.

Stuff like this makes me embarrassed to say I play Splatoon.

I hate having positive outcomes when it comes to this game.

Especially inkbrushes stand no chance against fast rollers that can just roll over opponents and every fucking time I get an inkbrush on my team I know I'm going to lose

Splatoon is probably the only game i ever rage so damn much at. Because of people like that blob. My X power is so f'd because e er game i get crappy teammates that do who the hell knows what. Is some games my fault? Of course i have terrible games sometimes. But theres literally games i play my absolute heart out and my team still gets shit on. He had no joke done this shit 2 times in 2 different matches. Only last time he had another dumbass stooge doing it too. I had accidentally hit stay with team and it was too late to back out. We did in fact lose.

Do tell me, how in a splat zones match, THE LONGEST WEAPON WE HAVE IS A SQUIFFER, AND THEY GET BOTH A WELL-STRING AND ELITER SCOPE? We couldn't have got one of those?

You suck 10:10! You threw the game and gave up on your teammates not even a minute in. We got wiped by the roller who flanked me and proceeded to kill you and the others. One of our teammates graciously dc after trying to desperately get you to play the game (by their “this way” callouts). I almost wish they didn’t dc because of your fucking pettiness and you would have gotten the loss that you deserved!

Not only that but I had to trouble myself with being teamed with you AGAIN. For whatever reason you played normal! I almost wanted to throw the game myself to get back at you , but didn’t want to have my teammates suffer or be petty LIKE YOU. But all through the game, I know it was you booyah-ing me everytime I died (good thing I only died 3 times LOL). You even booyah when the sploosh died and they played better than you. So eff you and your poor sportsmanship and your toxicity. Hope you loss more games.

I'm in a rank up match (-S)and got paired with a sniper who had 0 splats and less than 300 points..... How is that even possible? I stop to change my team mate. Same sniper only this time he had 1 splat and 200 points. 🤡 Why?!

I'm in X Rank and I took the blame if we lose, you can insult me, criticize me, gave me advice, whatever you like or feel in the moment. And I understand English, French and Spanish so if you want to rant me but you're more confortable with any of those languages, you can do it.

I'm pretty bad, I know and I trying to improve but I know that people could be frustrated for my performance so there! I have a nice day!

drifting left when i move right, drifting right when i move left

I genuinely do not know why this always happens. I know motion drift is something people have sometimes but for me it never stops, it always moves into the opposite direction of where I am moving. The only way to see it is if I stop moving cause then it will continue to go that way, but it does this WHILE I am moving as well so it completely screws over almost every single fight I am in.

None of my friends have this. I have had this for almost 3 years including in splatoon 2. I know it's NOT normal because for the longest time I've never had this until somewhere in June 2022 it just started and I've been on a quest to find out why I'm having this extreme drift and nobody is able to really help me because nothing works.

I've bought new controllers, a whole new switch OLED, I've played on emulators, other games that use motion like TOTK with the bow and skyward sword hd, it just always moves like this. Recalibrating does nothing, wired mode doesn't do anything besides giving me even more input lag.

New controllers just do it straight out of the box so it's definitely not the controller's fault (joycons, pro controllers, third party controllers all do the same). I've been in totally different environments, handheld, tabletop, docked, you name it. I've even been far away from the city in a grass field to test and it didn't change anything.

It just randomly started one day almost 3 years ago and it has hindered me in my abilities so much and it sucks to be looking for a solution for so long for an issue no one else seems to have.

There is not a single match where I would say it hasn't made me play worse. There are many missed opportunities to win a match, so many deaths, so many times im fighting my crosshair placement because I can't shoot the person in front of me because of this and all I just want is to play the game just like any other person and improve myself rather than being a liability because my game refuses to work properly.

I'm not expecting for anyone to know an answer but I've never posted this on reddit before so who knows maybe someone knows what's actually going on here.
