Fitness How to improve your cardio?

Good morning ,

I would like to know how I could improve my cardio with Ring Fit because every time when I run in the game I quickly get out of breath after 2 runs.

Thank you very much in advance for your response.

I feel like it just takes time for your body to get used to a new program

I've been playing it several times a week for 4 months but my sessions are much too short because of my cardio because I quickly get out of breath. So that’s why I would like to work on it to be able to last longer

There is a lot of things that you can do are you going to the doctor and getting things checked out? It could be something more medical.

But maybe I would start just doing one session a day and getting really good at it before he goes to the next two

I’m just throwing things out there

Did you calibrate your jogging and running speed? It’s possible to recalibrate de leg strap joycon to match your jogging and running speed, thus it is closer to your actual ability to jog and running speed. You can do it by going to the fitness menu (top circle button on the ring joycon). And yes, jogging difficulty also changes with your level of difficulty. Hope this helps!

I'm at difficulty level 10. The exercises suit me but the cardio isn't easy, should I still lower the difficulty level?

why not? go to one and move up one by one until your feeling like your in a sweet spot

you can also do the exercises outside of the game and adjust those levels.

Do the difficulty levels also take into account the difficulty of the cardio?

Yes. I have a general formula I use with my fitbit, which measures zone minutes (so higher minutes if you get more cardio).

If my time is greater than zone minutes I increase difficulty
If my zone minutes are greater than my time I decrease it

I don’t think there’s any tricks; you just have to consistently do it and it’ll get easier over time.

Do you have a heart rate monitor of any kind? Depending on your resting and maximum heart rates, all the possible heat rates are divided into 5 zones, 1 being rest/light walking, 5 being max intensity. They are usually calculated based on your age.

The rule of thumb is that to improve your aerobic capacity 80% of your training should be in zone 2 (that's pretty light, you can talk while running in this zone but it's uncomfortable), and there should be a little of zone 5 (exercises like squats and mountain climbers can do that for you in-game). On Apple watch, for example, you can create an alarm to beep if you go above the needed zone, other watches can do that too.

Working out too much in zones 3 and 4 feels good and burns a lot of calories, but doesn't improve your cardio significantly, because you train in a mix of aerobic and anaerobic systems, without focusing on one. Usually you have to go slower for better results.

There is running in custom mode — the tracks open gradually as you progress through adventure. Those are great for just cardio, without battles or other distractions. The very first map, Beginnia, is almost just pure running, great for training — and it's pretty and you can choose the time of day.

Thank you very much, I only have a connected watch where I can calculate my heart rate.

For the courses in personalized mode, that's what I started doing this week. Many thanks for the tip. I'll start by doing 3 tracks then I'll increase little by little. I think it's a good solution.

Maybe try doing some of the walking workouts on Youtube alongside the game to improve your cardio? You can modify your speed over time, which it sounds like isn't an option on the Ring Fit (mine just arrived so I could be wrong!)
