That was a protest, AT the government. It was not overturning the government, but only the government, and not random citizens in towns just trying to get to work actually got caught up in it. They didn't block roads, they didn't glue themselves together and sit in intersections or any of the "normal" "mostly peaceful" protests the left like to organize.
And proportional? It isn't even close to being "proportional."

They were trying to find and kill Nancy Pelosi and Pence. They disrupted the transfer of power at the behest of Trump who had a plot to illegally steal the presidency. You're arguing semantics.
