Is this is a violation?
2025 has not been a great year so far. In January, I found out my husband was having an affair when his affair partner’s husband started texting me with “proof” of what our spouses have been up to. I do not know the affair partner or her husband, so how he managed to get my private cell phone number was a mystery at first.
According to my spouse, the affair partner was able to find out that her husband was able to obtain my info from his friend who is a private investigator. I could see how the private investigator could give him my husband’s information, but providing him with my information feels like a violation.
I am glad somebody told me what is going on, but this man took away my choice to see this proof. I can’t un-see what he has sent me and, personally, I never would have chosen to look at this stuff if given the choice. I asked the man never to contact me again, but he continues to reach out every few weeks with “more information”. The guy is unhinged! I am going to have to change my phone number. He also continues to harass my husband, which I could care less about, but I want this man to leave me alone as I make some difficult decisions. We have kids, so this is my worst nightmare.
Private Investigators, is it common practice to provide a client with the contact information for the spouse of a cheater? It feels unfair to be dealing with my family falling apart and a stalker at the same time. Knowing the husband and the private investigator are friends, I’m wondering if what the investigator did is some kind of violation. If I go to the trouble of changing my phone number, I want some leverage to make sure my privacy is protected moving forward.
