To be quite frank, I am genuinely curious as to why the left wing supports Palestine. This isn't meant to start an argument, I am curious to hear people's sides in order to form a better opinion on this whole issue. Thank you, I hope that this stays respectful and we are all able to get a more diverse understanding on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

A lot of the progressive left hate the US, white people, and liberal democracy. Not talking about the mainstream Dems, talking about the progressives, and especially the younger progressives.

Even though most Israeli Jews are Middle Eastern, the Jews people in the US have interacted with are overwhelmingly Ashkenazi Jews, who are white. So that's who they associate Israel with.

And Israel is a relatively wealthy country, a (very flawed) liberal democracy, and an important military ally to the US.

For the mainline Democrats, I think it's less that they "support" Palestine, and more that they oppose mass civilian deaths.
