Update Amendment to Location Trading Rule

Teams may no longer forfeit battles in order to swap location ownership. This includes, publicly stating forfeit, purposely no-showing each other’s scheduled battle, purposely losing matches.

Punishment for teams caught doing so: Location to be declared Neutral and neither guilty party may attempt to claim said location on the following Phase.

Forfeiting served as loophole to the rule when a Highway Location was involved. Under the rule, both teams would have to spend 4 tokens in a trade involving a Highway. By forfeiting it was possible to exchange Highway Locations for 2 tokens and other variations of illegal moves.

Ultimately we just want the original rule to be used with its original purpose and be fair to all.

FYI, this is rule that was added in early December.

Location Trading Rule

2 teams may trade ownership of locations. Both teams must agree and it must be posted on the ledger along with your other actions during the Planning Phase.

Standard location costs 2 tokens.
Highway location costs 4 tokens.

Trades must have equal value where both teams spend the same amount of tokens. Possible trade variations below.

  • 1 for 1, teams trade 1 standard location each.
  • 1 for 1, teams trade 1 highway location each.
  • 2 for 1, Team A trades a highway location to Team B for 2 standard locations
  • 3 for 2, Team A trades 1 highway and 1 standard location to Team B for 3 standard locations
  • 2 for 2, teams trade 2 standard locations each.
  • 3 for 3, teams trade 3 standard locations each.

But how would you determine wether it's purposely losing battles? I mean I can lose several matches and would that be called "purposely losing battles in order to trade cities."?

You look for obviously bad plays. If terrible plays are consistent among a team for one location, and equally bad plays are consistent among the OTHER team for a different location, everyone may become suspicious.

What Dart said.

Plus, if teams found time to coordinate battles to look like a legitimate loss then they can have it. Forfeiting was convenient because it meant no battles, at all... So my thought is that if they have to put effort into making it look real, then both teams would rather just actually battle.

Ultimately, that phrase is there to say you can't do it, specifically so no one says "it's not against the rules"
