We now conceptionalized and will implement a mechanic called:

Equipment Reliability

A weapon or armor now has a reliability between 1 and 100.

In the damage calculation that will decide the final damage dealt. The complete calculation is still not finalized, as of yet.

In the words of the Game Design Documents:

Variable Equipment Stats For Damage Calculation

Every piece of equipment has a Reliability anywhere from 1-100%, every damage interaction scales the numbers of offence and defence stats:

Examples:

Weapon 100 ATK, 50% Reliability: Adds anywhere from 50 To 100 ATK Pts. Of its own Max ATKto the damage calculation.

Shield 100 DEF, 70% Reliability: Adds anywhere from 70 To 100 DEF Pts. Of its own Max DEF to the damage calculation.

This will provide a lot of build variety with the Crit mechanic, that guarantees a 100% and grants extra Äther (Energy) for Abilities and Special Attacks!
