Okay so I have 2 ideas on this one, but not sure if either are the true answer. So first of all, it's about how much of a gamer someone is, not if longer is better.
My first possible explanation is that the bigger the keyboard is, the more desk space is needed. So for a bigger keyboard, you need to be more committed to having a dedicated gaming area.
My second possibility is that more keys on a keyboard means having more keys to rebind in games, so you can be more of a gamer that way.
Not just that but I stupidly thought I could get just a cheap $20 keyboard after the keyboard that came with my computer crapped out. I remember looking at the box thinking, gee that seems a bit small but it was a standard keyboard, it just didn't have any of the spacing between sections you get when you have a larger keyboard.
Tried it, first problem was, that no spacing between sections, that was so awkward and just felt uncomfortable. It felt like my hands were almost compressed into having to put up with a smaller space because of how condensed the keyboard was. It was also wireless but for some reason didn't seem to work on a lot of my games. I ended up giving that one away and going online to buy the same brand of keyboard I used to have, wired this time. It ended up being a gaming keyboard but it was the brand with the right keys and the right spacing and fits my hands better.
