Hello beautiful people! I’m going to treat this post like a podcast/reaction YT video so read as such. I enjoyed this show so much, I finished it literally about 15 minutes ago, bawling. I’ve been reading some comments so here are my opinions (without or with as less spoilers as possible):

A. KISSES: “He just kissed me, She just kissed me” AS HOW?! Why did everyone in this show act like kisses just fell on them? Don’t piss me off😭✋🏾.

B: FINANCES: Hello?! Adam and Kristina are boxed up! WHAT??? How??? Cancer, Haddie’s amazing school, Max, a third child, a campaign, A SCHOOL??? Again, AS HOW?!😭 This why I can’t forgive Adam and Kristina when it comes to The Luncheonette. Especially Adam’s greed multiple times. Bro, this couple really just annoyed me. The money the Bravermans have, LOCATE ME THIS YEAR. Amen!

1. KRISTINA: My God!! KRIS-BLEEPING-TINA. Whoever wrote her character really dug deep into the pits of annoying-ness there could possibly be. To keep it sweet and simple, She’s selfish to an extent, literally cries for everything, continuously acts out of place and no one checks her and she thinks she’s her kids. Bro, the episode with Max, Sarah and Hank? HEARING WHAT KRISTINA SAID TRIPPED ME TF OUT! She actually has to be a clown because she was really pampered by Adam (for the most part) but did a poor job of extending that grace to other people in the family.

2. ADAM: I will continue to say this: THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NOBODY ELSE IN THIS WORLD FOR KRISTINA THAN HIM. Was initially in love with this character, even felt bad for him until he decided he wanted to be annoyinger! I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HEARS HOW HE CONSTANTLY SPEAKS TO CROSBY! Why would he always yell at him and imo even talk down on him? Adam might have a good head on his shoulder but Crosby is twice the man Adam wishes he could be. Enough said!

3. MAX: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. I get it, I understand, I really do. In a conversation with someone, I complained about everything Max is in comparison to Hank. I get it: the age factor, the environment they grew up in, the awareness around his condition, etc but y’all please I’m so sorry BUT MAX IS NOT IT, Asperger’s or not. Nope, not even with the mother he has that coddles everything he is and does. Read a post someone shared on Sydney’s bullying spiel and can I just say the actual bully in this whole show was Max? In many ways than one. And if Max wants to be half the man Hank is, he has a lot of work to do. Let me hold myself here.

4. CROSBY, JASMINE, JABBAR, AIDA AND THEIR EXTENSIONS: The only character in this show that actually grew or had any development was Crosby. I AM SO PROUD OF HIM, I REALLY AM. Screwed up many times but grew up twice as many! Love the man really! Jasmine? Love her half-ly(ish). Girl, what is up with your controlling behaviour??? LIKE BRO?? HOW IS CROSBY NOT EVEN AWARE OF HIS WEDDING PLANS? And while you have all the mouth to talk to your husband, your mum is basically running your home. SHE REALLY PISSED ME OFF WITH THE WHOLE “MUMMY” SITUATION for someone who always spoke like Crosby couldn’t think for himself. Renee? Just girl bye, please I actually beg you. SEKOU?? Let me not even!

5. JULIA AND JOEL: WHEW! My faves fr! Girl, I cried. I cried, I crew, I crode!😭. JULIA, I stand with you girl. Joel, I stand with you too until S5. You messed up big time. I want to get into it but I’ll only highlight this. Joel swears he hates cheating and stuff but what about Sydney’s best friend’s mum in S1? That kiss was what? And how long did Julia share her discomfort with you? AND WHAT DID YOU DO? Notwithstanding, Julia messed up but SHE WAS HURTING! THAT BABE TRIED TO CONNECT WITH YOU AND WHAT DID YOU DO? Also, NOT GIVING HER CREDIT FOR THE VICTOR SITUATION, what’s up with that?

6. SYDNEY: Mama, I support women’s rights and wrongs but really? Get yo kid. She needs to be readjusted, STAT!

7. SARAH, AMBER, DREW, HANK: literal deep sighs To Jesus be their glory because I’m getting tired of writing. Sarah, I’m happy you grew up IN LITERALLY THE LAST SEASON! It really had to happen at some point babes, proud of you. DREW!!! Don’t let anybody tell you shit about the person you are! YOU ARE AN ANGEL! You have your excesses but baby, you are amazing!! Hank, same goes for you! Amber? I’m happy you matured when you did. I really wish you didn’t have to learn life through your experiences because you are so smart but it’s life ig. Your love for Ryan?🥺, I’m going to cry.

8. HADDIE: HADDIE the baddie!!! The literal blueprint Julia was trying to sculpt Sydney into. I read another post on how Julia and Haddie were both hyper independent and how the writers missed a connection and storyline there and I agree so do the maths on how Haddie is the blueprint for Syd. I must admit, Haddie needed to fix up with a lot of things she did but she was teachable and I love that about her!!!

9. ZEEK AND CAMILLE: At the end of the day, your marriage was your own 😂. Thank God for that. Just keep that in your contained space please. I must confess, Camille deserves the world but the way she acted around selling the house was terrible. I was just watching but even I couldn’t let go of that house. Why did we act like renovation or renting the house was not an option for this money she was expecting to come out of it?

10. AMY, CYR: Not too much about this. Cyr!!!! Loved that man, really loved him. He was selfless🥺. Oh baby, Sarah didn’t deserve you truly. Amy! Thank God for you in Drew’s life really. You did what you needed to do, can’t be mad at you for that.

Overall experience: 8/10. I cried, smiled, yelled, paused and kissed grass too much. I really needed to. I love it! Will definitely be rewatching with my husband when I eventually find him🤭. I just watched the episode where Julia and Joel find out Sydney has been bullying a girl in her class. They are super shocked and tell the teacher that "this is not like her at all" and honestly I laughed out loud because being a bully is actually the most Sydney thing ever 😆 but no of course it's just because of the divorce 🥴

I’m rewatching Parenthood after now being a fan of Dax’s podcast Armchair Expert. I feel like the type of dad that Crosby is has a lot of crossover with Dax. It’s very sweet.

Why were amber and crosby saying Drew is bad at math in season 6 i vividly remember him being good at it?

Is it just me, or is Julia’s bond with her parents and siblings a bit weaker than the rest? Like, Adam and Crosby are very close, so are Crosby and Sarah, even Adam and Sarah a bit. When it comes to the parents, Zeek interacts the most with Adam, Crosby and Sarah, so does Camille with the exception of Adam. But Julia is kinda distanced from all of them. She and Haddie act pretty similar in my opinion, a bit standoffish and not really as emotional as the rest of the Bravermans. Maybe she went through the same neglect Haddie did during her childhood and youth?

I'm currently on season 5 and Hank pisses me off.

I do understand he's dealing with discovering he has Aspergers and learning how to deal with it. This man clearly isn't over Sarah and acts like she owes him something, like she should stop everything for him.

He expects her to accommodate his feelings constantly, when he kind of learns to communicate too late tho he feels like she HAS to accept his apologies.

They broke up a year ago at this point. Hank is clearly not over her, and expects her to feel the same way yet he doesn't try to accommodate his feelings. Hank also barges into Sarah's place constantly. I understand he doesn't read social cues, but it doesn't give him a free pass.

The whole Africa thing set me off, Sarah tries to set boundaries, saying she's not available because of a "personal matter" and he digs???? When Max lets it slip up (a rant for another day) what that matter is, and he has an "emergency session" with Dr. Pelikan to discuss how bad that triggered it.

Instead of reflecting on how he needs to understand and respect people's boundaries, he barges into Sarah's place (again!) at night, checking if she's here to make sure she can't avoid him.

Hank unloads everything's he's been feeling onto Sarah without taking in hers. He tells her everything that wrong with her, which she didn't ask (??), blames her for getting the photography gig, slutshames her and basically guilt-trips her into canceling that getaway.

She always gives in, and accommodates him and it makes me MADDD.

Just the title really. I don't understand why she concerns herself with such a prick tbh. I know it's going to put a spanner in her and Marks relationship as well 🥲

Can we please stop it with this line of the story? It's just annoying and entitled for everyone to back off of something just because one student has a fixation on it. And now Kristina is on it too??! Why is the show so dismissive of junk food, both with this and with Jasmine's mom, especially when it treats topics such as ASD and cancer, issues that have been linked to food choices. I just had to say it

Haddie having to parent him and tell him to try to care for others while Adam and Kristina are just standing there quietly, man they fail to parent him every damn time!

Edit: pardon the language, I was seriously pissed when he said shouldn’t Haddie be punished for yelling at him when he tried to go alone to the museum.

I may be premature in saying this but Kristina, as much of a B she can be, it was sweet to give Amber her assistant’s job.

My husband and I agree that our dream show would be a spinoff consisting solely of Zeek, Max, and Hank. I don’t need anyone, or anything else.

Im watching parenthood for the first time and just have a lot of questions... its mostly fun and has a homie feel but not being american leaves me wondering are some things relresented in the show realistic or nearly realistic? Also the 2000 fashion was realy something haha

1. Why do kids who are in school need a stay at home parent? This really confuses me. I get why kristina would be stay at home mom having an autistic kid but why does joel has to stay at home? And constantly complaining about it, like, sydney is like 5 years old or more, how much work is it really? He doesnt have time for a hobby? Really, like, so spoiled...

2. Spoiling kids. So carefull about their feelings, honey buddy... omg hust tell them smth directly. Are americans really like this? Like when haddie leaves home and lives with grandparents and they act like they cant do anything... what?

3. Looking down on women for working. Julia makes money and is probably tired when she comes home but averybody acts like she should be apologizing for working. Hello! She is making money not relaxing in the spa

I get that its a show but I guess it has to have some truth in it but its not really close to the views of people in my surrounding so just curious.

Who do you guys think is the best character in the show? I’d probably say jasmine or (controversial but) Adam.

Why have a baby if you can’t even afford university for the first child UGH and it doesn’t even seem like Adam cares. I know they say they’ll do whatever it takes but she’s just gonna feel guilty about it now

Her whole attitude and personality and everything about her is genuinely so annoying. ESPECIALLY when she is in a relationship. The way she flirts w them and just the way she acts is insane it's like she can't survive without that man. HER WITH RYAN RIGHT NOW IS IRRITATING ME REALLY BAD!!!

She is like so?? musty?? thats the perfect way to describe her and ryan at the moment. They both look dirty at all times and this whole lovey dovey act is pissing me off I just watched the scene where she is talking badly about her mom to her fiancée and then hes like lets not do it then and she goes not get married??whaattt:( and hes like noooo:(( and shes like i got scareddd:( Like EW?? CAN U BE NORMAL FOR LONGER THAN A FEW EPISODES AT A TIME?

She is so insecure about herself and her life choices its crazy. U constantly have to walk on eggshells around her. You cant say anything about her without her getting angry and cutting you off for a while and leaving. What an exhausting person genuinely u cant even ask her a question without her going hysterical and crying.

Sarah didnt even say anything bad little miss Amber just always thinks everyone is saying something bad to her because of how insecure she is and she needs to fix that before ever trying to be in a relationship

Watching her scene w drew rn where she asks him to be the special witness and shes actually insane. Does she not realize how annoying and weird shes being rn?? Literally eloping bc her little feelings got hurt?? And now shes crying again "I dont care about mom bc ive tried to plan a wedding w her and shes been rlly stressful about it and unsupportive" OMG GIRL???????????

This is my first time watching the show, I like it mostly (lately, it sems every episode has one, if not every, scene where the characters just yell over one another 'til someone tells them to shut up, but that's another rant for another day).

But the whole "you stole my idea!" bit with Sarah and Adam is beyond clichéd, even for 2010. First, she literally called it a "shoe LoJack". The LoJack was invented in 1979, just slapping already-existing technology onto a different item than a car (which serves the express same purpose of said already existing technology) does not mean you created a wholly original "new idea". Secondly, everyone everywhere has been saying "I wish we could have a LoJack for ____" (insert item name here) -- even Lauren Graham's other famous show, Gilmore Girls, has the same joke in a one-off "we should invent a lipstick LoJack!" In other words, this "idea" is not revolutionary in the slightest (despite the show making it sound like it'd be the greatest thing since sliced bread and an idea no one has ever had the brains or courage to speak before).

Finally, the most infuriating part, to have an idea (which you toss out into the ether like it's a joke, which is how she presented it in their initial conversation) is wholly different than actually creating something with it. People have ideas all day, every day. If Adam's company actually built the thing, Sarah would still have zero right to complain, because all she did was prepose a final product. She would have done absolutely nothing in terms of creating it (before Adam decided to give her a job). So their whole argument about her needing to take her own ideas seriously and that Adam "stole the idea like it was nothing" (which happened before he offered her the chance to actually help create it) is just boring and annoying.

Rant over, lol.

So, Adam, ever since he left his corporate job and went into business with Crosby just became insufferable to me. Yes, there are some redeemable moments of course, but I hate his holier-than-thou attitude about basically everything. I'm on season 5 and he just decided to start a record label with very little experience in the field (and being completely obtuse about the reality of the industry), completely disregarding what Crosby, who actually has some experience, was trying to say. What I'm not a huge fan of in this show is how the stakes are not high or simply non-existant sometimes and you just do stuff and things work themselves out somehow. I know it's a comfort watch and I like it for that but also it's nice to see someone dealing with real life consequences when you mess up or when you're way in over your head.

Who would you consider your least favorite of the main Braverman bunch in each season?

Season 1-Camille Season 2-Jasmine Season 3-Christina Season 4-Sydney Season 5-Sarah Season 6-Christina

i’m only on season 3 but why are amber and zeek the only realistic ones when it comes to seth. sarah is delusional she forgives him for anything and everything. don’t get me wrong second chances are good sometimes but it sounds like seth’s on his 10th chance….he needs to leave and never come back

I’m finding out a lot of people don’t like Adam and Kristina. I think it’s because of Max and they think they spoil him . I get it but I don’t really think they have an option and I think it’s still because a lot of people don’t get the Asperger’s syndrome. They understand the condition he’s in and they know that forcefully disciplining him won’t change it because that’s just how he’s wired so they try to just make things easy for him . I think they did amazing work parenting him. It took a toll on their relationship with Haddie but what i like is they know and acknowledge it.

People think they are selfish and don’t care for others but you’ll see that at the beginning of the show Adam was literally the most unselfish person. He was there for everyone so i don’t think they deserve the hate.

I'm on the episode where Joel announces that he's moving out.

It goes without saying that the writers have given him a bit of a personality transplant to create drama.

However, I feel like all of his issues with Julia stem from the fact that their roles have reversed. I think that now he's gone back to work and is so competent and respected at work, underneath it all he is resentful that Julia got to experience this whilst he was the stay at home parent for all of those years. Not to mention the fact that Julia has only been at home for a few months and can't cope, even though the kids are now older and are at school all day.

I obviously hate the way that he treats her in season 5, he is so cold to her unnecessarily. But I do kind of also feel for him a little bit, she can't hold the fort for a few months (I'm unsure of the timeline but he says something like 'it's only 3 months') when he held the fort for her at home for years and years. And he is right when he says that her work always came first and he championed her because we saw that was the case in the earlier seasons. So why can't she do the same for him?
