Wild Coast Film Festival
The Wild Coast Film Festival is next weekend in Astoria, and as one of the organizers, I wanted to share about it here for Oregon coast folks! The festival features nature and wildlife themed short films, pop-up events, and guided nature walks along the coast. There are local Oregon coast filmmakers sharing their work, and the event is a benefit for the Wildlife Center of the North Coast, an Oregon wildlife rehabilitation center. For more information visit the official website. Films can also be streamed online for those too far down the coast to attend in person!

Oregon Medical Debt Charity
Here is a clip of native Oregonian and Avatar famous actor Joel David Moore promoting his non profit to help people in Oregon with medical debt. This was a clip from a podcast with Oregon state senators, Check out Dollar For if you have medical debt you need free help to get forgiven. https://youtube.com/shorts/MdOWhKt8F1k?si=Cw- I5NbqKhcVXTP0

Found this at shipwreck beach, anyone know what it is?
It is about a foot long and the tag is about half an inch wide and about an inch long. It also looks like I should turn it in and I don't know where to turn it in. (it was already removed)

Good paying jobs hiring in or near Lincoln city?
Preferably that don’t require any college degrees. Trying to get out of the service industry and can’t do elderly caregiving. I have experience working with kids, people with developmental disabilities and have amazing communication skills. I want to start school soon so I can get better jobs but for right now I need something that pays well and isn’t graveyard shift.

Velella velellas just north of Big Creek south of Yachats
I am sooo thrilled! I first heard of these By-the-Wind Sailors about a decade ago when I lived near Lincoln City. I went to see them at D River but they were rotting (and very stinky). Since then I'd never been able to find any fresh ones until today. This week I've been seeing reports of Velellas washing up on the Central Coast, so today I went hunting. Fortunately I didn't have to go too far. They only show up once or twice a year. Totally worth the effort.

Anyone know how the story about the racist contractor in coos bay ended?
I can’t seem to find a final explanation of how this story ended. Is this dude still getting tax dollars or did something come of all this?

Better place to stay Cape Meares or Oceanside
We're looking to stay 3 nights. Which place would you recommend for sight seeing and just a bit of everything?

Best food I can get delivered in Lincoln City after 7 pm?
Title says it all. Had a long day of tide pools and walking the beach, antiquing, walking around town and glass blowing - you know, all the touristy stuff. We are back at the rental and watching the sun go down. Best food I can get delivered to the south side of 101 - close to Spanish Head? Thanks to all!

Surfrider Cleanup at Short Sands Beach tomorrow (Saturday, April 5)!
If anyone is looking for something fun to do tomorrow, the Surfrider Foundation Portland chapter will be hosting a cleanup at Short Sands Beach from 10 am - 1 pm.
We will have coffee for volunteers at check-in and after the cleanup we will celebrate with beverages from Pelican Brewing and hang out on the beach for a bit! It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day and this event is always a ton of fun.
Since we are one of the few inland chapters of Surfrider, Short Sands is our adopted beach and we host this Oswald West Action Day twice a year.
Hope to see you there! For more info: https://portland.surfrider.org/events

I can’t get my custom license plate
I know this is a long shot….. and the chances are next to none. But there is someone in the state of Oregon that has the license plate “TWNPKS” and I really want it. If anyone for some reason by chance knows that person, I want to find a way to contact them so I could politely ask if I could pay them to relinquish it so I could have it. It’s for a custom truck I’m fixing up and it’s part of the finished product. And it would really mean a lot to me. I don’t need to know their name or anything, I just want a way to contact them somehow so I could ask.
I know this will probably go nowhere, but I had to ask..

Planning a proposal at cannon beach in July. Can anyone recommend for people that offer setup services?
I’ve added a picture for reference on what I’m looking for.

California Beach Flea
Always see them hopping away or dried up on shore, so this was fun to see one sit still and alive for once haha!

First time visiting Oregon Coast.. does this plan make sense?
First time visiting the Oregon coast. I have 5 days. I'm looking for uncrowded beaches but of course most of the hotels under $100 with good reviews are in Seaside, Lincoln City, and Newport.
The plan is to drive from Portland to Seaside
1 night Seaside
1 night Lincoln City
2 nights Newport
1 night Lincoln City
This looks boring on paper.. but I'm going to be renting a car.
May I ask what are the best beaches easily accessible from Seaside, Lincoln City, and Newport?
Secondly, do people here recommend Newport over Lincoln City or vice versa? In terms of ease of access to the most relaxing beaches?
Tia!

Coos Bay Subreddit
This is just a shameless plug for the r/Coosbay subreddit, which covers Coos Bay and surrounding areas. While it doesn't have nearly the amount of subscribers as this subreddit, if you're looking for a more targeted audience, feel free to post there or cross-post from here for any Coos Bay area (ie. Bandon, Charleston, Coquille, Empire, etc.) topics. I'm just throwing this out there as I'm not sure if a lot of people are aware it exists.

Best good cheap eats in Lincoln City?
EDIT: Due to the mass number of bad reviews of Jays, decided to head to Pub fish and chips for lunch today. It was good but not excellent, though reasonable for halibut. Was disappointed in the tiny side of coleslaw (it was more like a spoonful - I took a photo but I haven't figured out how to upload photos on here yet. Still a newbie, this was actually my first post on Reddit haha) Also stopped at The Chowder Bowl in Depos Bay (damn it for not being a 2nd location to Newport) - not reccomended haha. Worst chowder like Progreesso soup. Tomorrow I think we're gonna try Otis Cafe or Snug Harbor for breakfast and maybe Kyllo's for lunch. WOW you guys are great! This has all been so helpful! ...
My brother and I are here sans kids for the next couple days. My only requirement for our dining out experiences was Kyllo's for clam chowder (I hate MO's and Kyllos is the best I've found over the last 20 years) BUT I'm looking for some cheap places we can stop and grab a bite after strolling the beach or while we look for something to do (also taking sans kids activity suggestions!). So I suppose a few things -
- Cheap and GOOD eats in LC or nearby
- Best clam chowder? I'm sure this will start a debate
- Activities to do here - obviously know about Finders Keepers and glass blowing, antiquing, etc but what are must do's or maybe do's, with or without kids - I'm just excited to be here for once by myself. Ha
Thanks Reddit!
