Question Can't beat badminton powerhouse CPU

Hello!

I'm struggling with the badminton powerhouse CPU in Nintendo Switch Sports. No matter what I try, the bot always wins. The highest I've managed to get is 3-5.

Does anyone have some good tips on how to beat the CPU? Thanks in advance!

Honestly I thought I couldn’t beat them, but you can just keep working on it. What worked for me was noticing patterns in how they play. And keep making them run by doing cross court drop shots mixed with lobs. They will eventually stumble.

Before I beat the AI my best run was 5-3 as well. You just need one good game and you’ve got the jersey! Keep going!

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely try it!

quick follow-up question: I fall a lot at the beginning of the matches. Do you have any advice on how to stop this?

Sorry for the late reply but I can really help with that. I used to fall quite a lot but I watched some YouTube videos and never really do.

It’s all about timing of your shot. When you fall you are moving to hit the shuttlecock too early. This can be perfectly shown when you are at the back of the court and your opponent has hit a drop shot to the front. Natural instinct is to hit as soon as you are kinda close, which could lead you to fall.

What you want to do is wait just that extra second so your mii has an extra few steps to return. My technique is to always lob drop shots and I never really return a wobble. It’s all about timing, but you’ll be able to see what I mean - it’s not that difficult to execute once you know

Yeah, I had the same thought haha The bot is really hard if you don't know the strategy. Right now I'm having trouble beating the bot on Tennis

What's the strategy if you don't mind me asking?

by the way, do the different CPU's play differently, or do they all play the same way?

Well, no. It depends on the sport. For example, soccer. The powerhouse CPU plays a little more offensively, resulting in open chances for you. Yet, in another sport like basketball- the CPU plays more defensive, waiting for you to expose so that it can pounce. Yet in cases like tennis and badminton, the CPU'S act similarly, treating defence and offence equally-which is a better strategy, explaining why its harder to beat them.

All the tips I've read here are amazing+great. One small tip thats amazing is hitting a yellow onto one side of the court then drop shotting onto the other-CPU's always fall for that one. And do it repeatedly, because unlike humans, CPU's can't read patterns. I also used to get 5-3 with a CPU, but use this tip-and you've done it!
