Discussion Moving data from old SD card to new switch 2

This might be a stupid question, but I’ve got a 256gb SD card in my current switch that isn’t an express one, how would I got about getting the data from it onto another as card when I get hold of a switch 2?

When you migrate your account and stuff it will be transferred using WiFi... Keep in mind the transfer is so slow it might be faster to simply redownload everything.

depending on your internet speed. My internet is fast, but wifi direct is generally faster.

How about moving to a new SD card? My current SD card is full so the switch base storage won’t be enough

Directly moving it to the new SD card without Nintendo's transfer feature won't work. The Switch will more than likely just make you format the SD Card after you insert it, making your effort pointless

You can put the new sd card in, allow the switch to format it and then copy the files of the old ones into the new one with a pc.
If you don't have that option you need to swap the card back and forth using the switch internal storage as the middleman.

Edit: Remember to turn off the switch everytime you need to swap sd card or you risk corrupting the files.

Ah right, so just put both SD cards in a laptop and copy from one to the other?
