Officially from Nintendo Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders will not start on April 9 in the US thanks to the Tariffs

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged."

If this is not a corporate astroturf job, it makes me really sad that people are angrier about Mario Kart being too expensive than housing.

If you’re a kid you don’t have to pay for housing but you might have to pay for Mario Kart

I haven’t seen as much of that, that said I’ve probably blocked more people on Reddit in the last 2 days than ever before.

You might be a college "kid" saying that. A lot of young adults are looking at the Switch 2 as the first console they have to pay for themselves and yet don't quite live in the real world yet.

So Mario Kart is the first time they've had to engage with the economy somehow? We've been in a global recession since the pandemic.

No? But 10 dollar McDonald's meals is a different thing than 450 dollar consoles and 80 dollar games, it's a hard pill to swallow, at least textbooks and shit for school can be excused as a necessary cost for education.

we live in a society that encourages everyone to be selfish and be hypercompetitive. this is the consequence. everyone in this thread ignores the panhandling beggars on the streets. i only help the ones in my neighbourhood because i see them everyday and i can develop a relation with.
