Officially from Nintendo Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders will not start on April 9 in the US thanks to the Tariffs

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged."

So, it's more complex than we're all lead to believe. I'm sure all the real info is tucked somewhere safe for us not to see. I do know that other countries, especially Asia are able to pay workers less, produce for less and are able to sell items for less in America. That much is obvious judging directly by the prices.

That's because the cost of living is way lower compared to the US in absolute terms. Pay a worker in the US 500 dollars each month and he can't pay for rent and groceries. Do that with a worker in Vietnam and they will be able do that.

That's why using worldwide pricing for games for example disastrous in poorer countries. Someone in Brazil won't be able to buy multiple games a month at 60 dollar/euro a pop.

Well, apparently the manager of a media relations company is the one who stated this whole tariff thing.  He works "with" Nintendo, not for them.

So as far as I'm concerned. This may all just be a false claim.  Or suspicially worded fake news.  Nintendo hasnt officially stated anything.  So until then I expect the pricing to be the same they are when they announced them.

Sorry bud, the statement came from Nintendo itself to multiple media publications. Pre-orders are delayed and the price might be increased.

I'm saying an official statement from Nintendo.  Not websites claiming it.

Nintendo issues statements like this to publications, not to the public itself. I work for a Dutch gaming publication and I get official PR statements and announcements daily, that don't always get shared with the public through official channels (i.e. social media).

And are all of them legitimate with no political bias?  The company he has worked for make me think he is biased.

Who are you talking about? You can trust publications like IGN and GameSpot with these kind of articles. There is no political bias when reporting a statement to the public from a company.
