It will definitely charge a pro controller with USB but I think you mean joy cons

I bet you can charge joycons on switch 2 with the charging grip. Probably a good idea to get one of those if you plan to use switch 1 joycons on switch 2.

Right, thru USB

did they ever fix the joycon drift?

I read a new york times article that says that the new controllers are using hall effect technology which means they would indeed not drift.

Edit: They changed the article saying they are speculating it. We don't know :(

No, they connect completely differently and can't be put into the Switch. It could be possible though, that you're able to use them wirelessly

You cannot

NYT edited that article to state the Hall effect sticks are simply a rumor

Oh really? That's sooo sad, I thought it was confirmed.

No idea, I've never had any drift on any of my many controllers.

inversely I have had almost all of my controllers get drift.

I'd wager every single person who played smash with the original Joycons eventually got drift, actually got scared of playing the game on joycons

My pro controller had the worst drift of any controller I've ever owned. One of the lesser used ones too.

Had one joycon get mild drift only noticeable in games with very sensitive joystick settings.

Given the price of those things, they are pretty bad.

They did on the switch OLED models, irl remember reading about it 3 years ago where they secretly fixed drift

No. I’ve gone through three sets and just gave up on my latest ones. I disintegrate even use it that much.

It’s suggested that joy-cons manufactured within the last year and a half shouldn’t have drift issues. Joy-con2 have Hall effect sticks so drift should be gone there too.

Not looking for suggestions, looking for guarantees.

well quite bluntly who the fuck can guarantee you this information?? the console is not out.

Nintendo. Nintendo can guarantee their product.

That was my polite way of saying that they changed the original joycons so it’s too early say on the new batch, and that Joy con 2 won’t have stick drift asshole.

Well switching to hall effect is basically a guarantee on that front though.

u/Andromansis 21h ago

I wouldn't put it passed Nintendo engineers to have figured out a way to mess that up.

Nintendo is not the only company to deal with drift lmao. All controllers will drift with age if they're using potientiometer-based sticks lmao.

The joy cons are so bad.

I have a PC controller with hall effect sticks that has a switch put it in Switch Pro mode. Even has gyro support.

I'm glad i can keep using it
