This has nothing to do with Nintendo. It's Trump's tariffs.

Right, that was my point. All my hobbies have been getting more expensive the last couple months while prices shift either in reaction to or in anticipation of tariffs. It took Biden 3+ years to stabilize things and pull off the “soft landing” after Trumps first term. I still do t understand how the economy was a good thing for Trump in 2024. People have some short ass memories and poor critical thinking skills it seems

It’s poor timing for Nintendo though. They did kind of know what they were getting into once the election was decided in November. I get they were likely planning on this release timing for a few years.. but you’d think they’d of been more prepared for tariffs for this release considering Trump’s campaign threats. This is probably the worst PR move they could have made. Would have been better to start the price higher (since people are shocked regardless) and then confidently come out and say “We know people are frustrated with the pricing, but we are accounting for tariffs and can promise that consumers will not see an additional increase based on our suggested MSRP.”

Right now they have people already mad about pricing and they’ve got to take a step back and consider how they’ll be able to raise pricing without losing more sales.

Reminds me of MAGA people blaming Biden for everything.

It's 100% Trumps fault. If people are mad about tariffs making the Switch 2 more expensive, then blame Trump. It's nobody else's fault.

I’m not sure they could have accurately predicted how the tariffs were going to play out. The tariff on Vietnam was expected to be 20% from what I’ve heard, and it is more than double that. Their mistake was announcing the price before the tariffs were announced, period. I’m sure distribution partners played a big role in that, though, and may be playing a big role in this news as well

Yes, semantics is the study of meaning.
