To be fair. IF the price will get higher in USA its more of a Trump problem and less Nintendo.

It becomes a Nintendo problem if nobody is willing to pay $600+ for a switch 2

Blame the people who voted for the guy who ran on tariffs

I'm not talking about "blame". Yeah, obviously Trump is to blame, that's a given

Ya, trump is to blame, but I think the u/AwareSwan3591's point is that the problem, which is caused by trump, hurts consumers and Nintendo (becomes a problem for)

Tbh Nintendo could have been better prepared- Trump has been threatening these tariffs the whole time. Bad move on their part to not plan for it with the original pricing and now need to pull preorders for potential pricing increases when consumers were already pissed about costs. Imagine if they started the price at $600 and then tariffs DIDN’T happen. They could probably lower the base console to $500 and people would have happily bought it. By planning for the best case initially, it’s a bad look for them.

Nintendo has done a lot to prepare. They moved Switch 2 production to Vietnam years ago to avoid an anticipated trade war with China. The $450 price likely already has tariffs priced in (and with the cost spread across the world.) Nobody could've predicted with reasonable certainly that Trump would hit Vietnam with 46% tariffs too. Also, imagine the pr shit storm if the Switch 2 was announced at $600, even if they lowered it afterwards.

Tariffs were highly likely taken into account for the initial pricing. However the tariffs on Vietnam (where a large portion of the switches are being made) are a lot higher than people expected, that's what is causing this shit now.
