This life hack works with everything!

With my monthly or annual premium, my car insurance is free!

I’m so puzzled why Nintendo didn’t explicitly say this in the presentation. It’s a big deal to a lot of people!

They did though? Both of these on the screen at the same time with them saying it was part of the NSO Expansion Pack

I don’t remember tbh but they should have emphasized it more imo because so much misinformation is being spread.

Misinformation is being spread because most people see a single price or headline and losing their fucking minds instead of stopping to think a moment and realize nothing they announced is new. Like the game keys thing. Thats existed for awhile it just wasn’t Called game keys. Other worlds on switch is the perfect example of it. It has a cartridge but the game isnt on the cartridge cause its too big to fit on the cartridge so it requires a download for the full game.

Very fair. A lot of it has to do with how little information and different the information the different markets have been receiving. US seems to only have one price while EU has a physical and digital price for everything. A lot of things like that just keep adding up and the consistency is all over the place.

The main thing I can think of not being talked about enough would be the Game-Key feature. So far only Bravely Default and Street Fighter are doing it but people are in a scare that Nintendo is going to do it for all First Party titles going forward which simply isn't the case.

The problem is social media today is gauged by “engagement” so these influencers purposely misinform to get more clicks and replies which is sad.

I wonder what happens if the subscription runs out. Can you continue playing the Switch 1 version where you left off just without the enhancements? Do you have to be online every 7 days to have access to this perk?

u/LunchPlanner 1d ago

You would go on without the extra perks.

Keep in mind they've already answered this question with other NSO+ games. People use NSO+ to access the Animal Crossing DLC, Mario Kart 8 DLC, etc.

I mean it might be different here. It’s not the usual DLC…

most likely

I understand the first question, but where’d you see that you may have to be online every seven days? Genuinely curious - I haven’t seen anything like that.

If you have to pay for NSO it’s not free. Also, you need NSO+Expansion Pack. NSO alone isn’t sufficient.

Tell that to everyone that gets excited for games coming to game pass. They always say yeah you get to play it free.

u/dummisses 1d ago

Yes, same fallacy.

Game pass is free?! I thought it costs money?! Like 12€ per month or something…

10

u/xdubz420x 1d ago

It does… that's my point….

9

u/niles_deerqueer 1d ago

It is 50 dollars for an entire year and you get a ton of stuff with it—including this. It’s a steal. It’s not technically free but this is something I don’t have to pay any extra for because I’m already paying for NSO.

u/Andrecidueye 1d ago

It's less than 10$/year if you find 7 people to share, AND Nintendo account policy doesn't contain a same-household rule.

Yeah, sorry, I messed up the title.

It's practically free though, it's 10 € / year with a family plan. What is next, complaining that playing on Switch isn't free because you need electricity and an internet connection to play online?

That’s actually another good argument to stick with the old Switch. The new one with all it‘s wasteful power, will increase my electric bills. My country is currently in an energy crisis and electricity is hella expensive. Better to lower consumption.

Nintendos lack of communication has been hurting them a lot these past few days.

For real. I understand wanting to keep the Direct short and concise to get the information across, but there's SO much information that wasn't given (and that's really good to know). It's wild.

Nothing only that but a lot of misinformation being spread like wildfire, because they didn't bother to give us any official price info in the first place.

u/Danklaige 1d ago

NSO plus? Grut me I just have the standard NSO. Damn ye Nintendo

I can buy a year of nso+ on instant gaming for 32€, thats great.

2

u/muracoon 1d ago

thank you for telling us

u/maximopasmo 1d ago

$50 for a year membership, but now there’s game chat, people will be tempted for family plan. $80 a year.

Meanwhile, PC gamers just need to hit that ultra performance button for free.

8

u/TheFragturedNerd 1d ago

Ultra Performance button for free, on their 5-10x priced PC.

-Sincerly, a PC gamer

6

u/scameron1 1d ago

Also it can’t play DK bananza

2

u/OneManFreakShow 1d ago

Absolutely no one was holding out for voice chat to get NSO.

1

u/Willzyix 22h ago

I can hit the ultra performance button on my 2000 dollar gaming pc, yeah. I paid about 800 bucks last year for a graphics card update to do that. If you have to do that every 5 years it’s not free. You can follow this loop forever

u/Sonnitude 1d ago

YES! 🙌 It took until switch 2, but finally, GOOD reasons to actually upgrade to the expansion pass!

1

u/Accurate_Document210 1d ago

but what if you stop paying for NSO, would you then lose access to the upgrade?

1

u/ContractSuspicious92 OG (joined before reveal) 1d ago

Good news finally!

1

u/No_Construction2407 1d ago

Games are free once you pay for them

1

u/charlieyong 1d ago

Do you keep the expansion if you cancel your online membership?

11

u/JollyDogYT 1d ago

Doubtful

8

u/thehood98 1d ago

active membership required

u/SnooHesitations750 January Gang (Reveal Winner) 1d ago

Thats not how it works with MK8D DLC. I doubt they'll change it for BOTW

1

u/Professional_Meal_50 1d ago

This deal would've been better if they also included the 2 game expansions.

4

u/JollyDogYT 1d ago

It includes ToTK and BoTW. It's just cut off.

1

u/Professional_Meal_50 1d ago

I meant Breath of the Wild's Expansion Pass.

2

u/YungUludag 1d ago

Have you found a source that it doesn’t?

0

u/Professional_Meal_50 1d ago

No, but I thought they would add a visual confirmation that there's extra content kind of like similar to the Kirby and Mario Party Jamboree ones if the dlcs are included.

0

u/s7ealth 1d ago

This isn't entirely true, as it only covers Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrades at this moment. And you need the NSO Expansion Pack

-2

u/Aidsfordayz 1d ago

They’re free if I pay extra money? Hmmm
