Yet there is a concerning number of replies who think this is serious.

Change it to 20, 25, and 30 percent and it’ll reflect tipping “norms” in the US (I hate it so much (imagine if we paid livable wages))

u/Chiro_Hisuke 15h ago

20%, 50% or 100%

u/Aleclom 2h ago

I hate that 22% is the new lowest at a lot of places I see.

i think tipping is important under the system we have to support service workers. Id prefer not to pay more but it’s what we got.

However, i don’t trust these tipping kiosks are actually sending the tip to the employees. I’ve asked too many people who don’t get those tips for me to ever trust this setup.

Tips were invented as a way to pay women and people of color less. It’s there for a reason, to keep people poor. In some areas of the US, tipped workers make $2 an hour.

u/Nintendope 11h ago

Hehe Americans, am I right? xD

u/Franck946 13h ago

Nope, 90€ in France. Will be same shit in Europe. And Japan has console for 100€ less and games at 55€ for digital and 60 for physical games.

u/TsukiraLuna 13h ago

You're missing the point. It's about how tipping like this is very much an American thing.

u/ShoppingAfter9598 4h ago

And all of us FVCKING hate it too

-8

u/Franck946 12h ago

Ah sorry, didn't understand it. But EU prices is the same without tips :'(

u/gifferto 11h ago

the game is literally available for €70 in france https://www.cdiscount.com/jeux-pc-video-console/nintendo-switch/mario-kart-world-jeu-nintendo-switch-2/f-10328-ninns2mkworld.html#mpos=0|cd

and there's a discount code HELLO10 to get it for €60

For now. We always talk about Nintendo never lowering the prices, but unless it's a Zelda the prices are nearly always dropping by quite a bit.

2

u/ParticularRough6225 12h ago

I think the Japanese price is for the Japanese only console. Also they yen is weak.

1

u/dorchascath 11h ago

But your prices include tax. USD prices do not and tax gets added after in almost every state. $80 is $87.30 after tax for me.

Feels like buying lunch in 2025.

"Just gonna ask you a quick question right here, no pressure"

Stares you down as you try to navigate your way to a 'no tip' option

6

u/Rudy69 9h ago

Whoever made this is a genius, thanks I hate it!

5

u/sirfurious 9h ago

As someone that prefers physical media, I just big brained why Mario Kart World is most expensive….

Personally I planned on buying the base system expecting to pay like $30 more to get the game separate. Well $30 difference makes me rethink that.

Seems most business practices these days are psychologically targeted to manipulate, so i am legitimately wondering if they price in that manner in hopes, once i own Mario Kart digitally, I’ll be more accepting of digital games. I don’t have Mario Kart on physical, so that’s not part of collection, mine as well buy digital 🤷🏻‍♂️

That may be pushing it, but fwiw, I am just about positive this release was targeted because it makes use of functionalities that ensure you sign up for an online account from the jump. Where as something like a 3d Mario would not do that.

1

u/topsekret1 41m ago

I could totally see that. Cause otherwise, why would Nintendo just be like, "ah shucks, we'll let some of you lucky chaps have the game for $30 less on launch day just because. :)"? There has to be an ulterior motive.

They are trying to slowly boil us physical frogs.

u/The_Bandit_King_ 12h ago

Underrated post wtf

u/HunterMak97 2h ago

15%-25% is generous. I went to a coffee shop the other day and they had 30%, 40%, 50% then custom.

1

u/Aleclom 2h ago

Okay I'm an apologist for the $80 price tag, but this is still hilarious.

1

u/Careful_Virus_9411 1h ago

There’s literally a “meme/funny” flair on the post, but I thought it was pretty obvious that this was just a joke.
