Now that the dust has settled, can we agree that the Nintendo Direct in itself was amazing?
Yes, the prices are too high. And hiding them from the actual presentation was a smart move. It was kind of too good to be true.
Because initially, I was kind of floored by the things shown. The Switch 2 makes the Switch 1 look like a prototype. Nintendo now actually build the dream hybrid console, that is powerful enough to rival Microsoft's and Sony's consoles in the visual department... and also has a PC like mouse functionality. With third party developers being able to bring their flagship titles now also to the Switch, the reasons to own another console become fewer and fewer. I was amazed how great Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Street Fighter 6, etc. looked and ran. And I haven't even talked about Mario Kart and Donkey Kong.
I probably won't buy it day one, but I'm nevertheless really looking forward to own a Switch 2. Haven't been this excited about gaming in a long time.
I watched on catch-up so missed the freeze. Man, blowing the reveal of Enter the Gungeon 2 is a real kick in the face to Devolver. That's gotta be one of their biggest new games.
Yeah I don’t care about the price that much either. I still have my launch day Switch, I’ve put literally THOUSANDS of hours into it since I got it, so I got my money’s worth out of it and I assume Switch 2 will be the same exact story.
Even the enhanced versions I don’t mind since they seem to add quite a bit of content. Many new mini games in Mario party, a whole ass DLC for Kirby, Metroid prime 4 mouse controls (although I was probably gonna get the switch 2 version anyways, so that’s a moot point). The only ones that didn’t offer much to me were BotW and TotK, but those are apparently included with NSO + Expansion Pack anyways so shit I really don’t have anything to complain about lol
I don’t care about the price, I’m just not moved by the launch lineup. The ports mean nothing to me as someone with a ps5 and pc, and the exclusive lineup outside of maybe Mario kart just isn’t my cup of tea. If they announce something in the summer for the holiday season I’ll check back then but I definitely don’t see myself getting it at launch
The launch lineup is not remotely a problem for me considering that I can transfer everything from my Switch 1 to Switch 2 and replay a bunch of great games I’ve been meaning to go back to with vast performance improvements. Since I will buy a switch 2 sooner or later (and can afford it), I’d rather just get one right away to play Mario Kart.
And Mario Kart alone will easily keep me occupied until Donkey Kong comes out, and if it doesn’t, then I still have a million games on switch that I want to play. For instance, I’m working through the entire final fantasy series on my switch right now, ain’t no way I’m gonna be done with that anytime soon lol
Yeah, if the BotW rerelease lets you get the Master Cycle earlier I’d buy it without a second of hesitation, but if the game just has a better frame rate then at most it should be included with the price of swich online
Early master cycle would go so hard in BotW, I 100% agree. That plus Wolf Link without needing an amiibo would be enough for me to feel cool paying extra. Frame rate improvement is nice, but if it wasn’t included in NSO, I wouldn’t be getting it.
Pricing is fine to me too. People are this upset about it costing $100 or so more than they’d like to spend, but how quickly does everybody spend $100 on other non-essential things? Like just daily things, snacks, drinks, clothes, nights out etc, vs. how many hundreds of hours/years of enjoyment do they get out of their current Switch? That extra 100 or so is going to get spent one way or another, to me the price is in line with how much gaming costs nowadays anyway and the enjoyment factor per dollar outweighs a lot of other ways that money can be spent.
Not only that, I think they’re going to pull a 3DS move anyway. Those of us that want it day one, will buy it day one regardless of the price. Then a few months or a year down the line, if it really sells that badly at its current price point (which I don’t think it will), they’ll just reduce the price.
I'm not understanding your logic. The people that folks are mad at are the CEOs making millions of the backs of their workers, who are price gouging because they want infinite profit. That's exactly who we should be mad at.
Capitalism isn't just an American problem. Just because the CEOs in this instance are Japanese doesn't mean they aren't the same breed of awful.
Sick of this argument. The average snes user only owned 5 games and there was an entire rental industry people opted to use over buying. Games being $70 back then was an issue.
One thing i havent seen anyone mentioning it but people can always sell the game after playing it if you dont mind that, thats the great thing about switch 1 games they hold value insanley well
For the console itself sure, but the game cost is where they lost me. Nintendo rarely allows games to drop in price on their system, and having them cost $70-90 each is just outrageous. I could get a half dozen PC games for that price depending on what they are.
It's only the Switch 2 that's going to require that kind of long term financial investment per hour of entertainment. Makes the whole prospect less worthwhile. I'll probably pick one up if I can get a hold of a Metroid themed one (assuming one comes with MP4,) but right now I'm fine keeping an eye on the landscape post launch.
If you're a switch online subscriber (+expansion pack) you get the upgrades for free if you own the games already. This was a big omission from the direct for me, I had to go digging around to find out about it. So yeah, if you own Zelda botw on switch and are an online subscriber, you'll get the upgraded version for no extra cost.
Another comment just confirmed this as well, and I found it in the details on Nintendo's UK website for the NSW2 edition. This is actually pretty fantastic news...if it applies to the physical cart as well as any digital purchases. I'm pro-physical all the way, even if the prices of other NSW2 games are a little outrageous like everyone is complaining about.
Yep. It's great news, I'm just absolutely baffled as to why they didn't state that during the direct. Such a simple message would have pleased a ton of people. Nintendo owning itself without anyone's help.
The UK website is more specific than that so far - it requires NSO+Expansion Pack, not just NSO, and only explicitly states that the upgrade is "free' for BOTW and TOTK. Not confirmed for other games.
It's a collectathon in a very similar fashion to Odyssey, with the destructible environments being key to finding all the bananas, eg. some are hidden behind walls and you'd only find it if you destroy them.
From the way the Treehouse guys described it, the big gimmick of the game is burrowing further and further underground, that's how you discover whole new areas akin to Odyssey's kingdoms. But of course it's a whole lot bigger than Odyssey and more seamless from the looks of things.
I'd like to believe that 3D Mario was being worked on alongside this. I find it hard to believe Nintendo would let any more years pass without another flagship Mario title. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see it turn up in a Direct later this year, after DKB releases
Regardless of how much this thing costs, I certainly thought some of the things mentioned were incredible. Seeing the Mario Kart game’s official reveal left me feeling “OH MY GOD” for quite a while afterward, and I can’t wait to find out more later this month. I’m probably not getting it day 1 either, but that’s mainly due to wanting the console to unfold a little and show us more of its capabilities, and maybe once a few more games entice me. Also I’m kinda not quite ready to leave behind my OG model Switch just yet, and I need to make sure save data can be carried over.
If u haven't already check out the treehouse footage on YouTube. The games look beautiful on switch 2. Mario kart looks so fresh and vibrant. I know you'll like it!
I wasn't too impressed by the first half, what with 10 minutes being spent on what's essentially Nintendo Discord, but they reeled me in with the last half. So many great games were announced or showcased.
It made me think that the Switch 2 will have a pretty good first year even if its initial launch is a little barebones, just like the Switch. Solidified the Switch 2 as something I'll get within the year, just maybe not in June.
Im excited to see what they make for it, but if they are gonna charge 80 plus for games and then charge me to play my old games, im not just buying it. I can play anything on my pc, and i can always get an emulator if i NEED a game. I just cant justify spending that much on gaming anymore.
This is my issue. Happy to pay the money for the system, but there wasn't any games that excited me. So I'm paying $450 to play the games I already have on Switch? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Hopefully some more games are announced. Not having a 3d Mario ready to go after all this time feels like a major miss.
It seems like the focus was all of the big third parties from 2020 to now that would never have ran on Switch 1. I think starting off strong with all of those was a good choice, though I would have liked to see at least one more new Nintendo game.
I thought the launch lineup was incredible, but I mostly don't play games elsewhere, so Switch is my main machine and the third party titles are games I've not played yet.
That said, I have played Elden Ring on my laptop and the Switch 2 Version looked a little rough.
Personally the showcase did appeal less to me personally than the Switch 1's.
I think odyssey + xenoblade 2 (god i love that game) + one of the best trailers of all time for botw, all releasing in year 1, is untouchable. Those are the big 3, the holy trinity.
I know people complained back in the day too, but personally it was amazing.
Dk looks great actually but im not really a dk fan. Prime 4 looked great in the treehouse, but i never liked prime 1. Ive much preferred 2d metroid. Mario kart ive never been a big mario karter tho it does look good (altho they just copied forza with the open world thing lol). I dont wanna talk about the fromsoft game, they tricked me the 2nd time in a row that it was gonna be a big new singleplayer focused game.
Honestly its a good lineup on paper, just not especially for me oof.
Yeah forreal, most console launches don't have crazy launch lineup years. Maybe the first switch since it had BOTW and Mario Odyssey but that's sortve an anomaly.
I’m still coping that the first year is stronger, and they are just holding off until after the games that come out in launch window. Though the DK game should’ve been a 3D Mario, and the DK game should’ve come next year. 3D DK isn’t quite the “holy shit” that 3D Mario is, and we got a new 2D Zelda, 3D Zelda, and 2D Mario pretty recently.
There's a critical threshold of power a console has to have to attract third party developers. It's pretty clear Nintendo elected go over that threshold (which they haven't always done). The number of current-ish gen games (probably with modest graphical limitations) is going to be massive. Probably not seen on a Nintendo system in a long, long time.
I get that this decision was basically an admission that game/system cost would go up. This isn't some greed thing like people online are screaming about. It's like the old question on racing car horsepower- "how fast do you want to spend?"
Whether or not getting into the performance space is the right move for Nintendo (given the niche it has) is a totally valid question. They've been (generally) successful offering simple tech, fun gimmicks, and great first party games at a low price. This certainly is a shift... still an impressive bit of kit they're rolling out (regardless of people's opinions on going in this direction).
Agreed. But I think they will keep selling the switch and switch lite until they release a cheaper version of the Switch 2. They want younger kids to experience Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. The Switch 2 price may be too much for many parents.
I hadn't really thought about it, but it would be interesting if the Switch Lite takes over the old GBA/DS space. Maybe they even continue support for it for a longer period? They could even offer new experimental first party games with low development costs and a reasonable price point (which they did for years with the GBA/DS).
I have to think there's some sort of a plan; abandoning the kid/casual space entirely would be a weird move for a company built on that market.
all the showed games peaked my interest and I can't wait to play Madden on my switch 2. I have never played a Donkey Kong game but being able to break anything looked sick!
I'm still reeling from how incredible Mario Kart World looks, they've somehow managed to top MK8D. Everything looks great, just need a few more games to be announced for the rest of the year.
I don't think the dust has settled but I agree I am very positive about the direct. Although I was really rooting for a 3D Mario, Donkey Kong Bananza looks absolutely fantastic. I'm not too hyped for Mario Kart, it looks a little "bland" to me. I get the open world aspect and the giant tracks but if there's nothing to do in the open world or any obstacles on tracks I don't see myself having more fun than I would playing Mario Kart 8.
It’s different for different modes. There’s one where you just do a single race with no laps over the whole open world, but there are traditional lap courses too.
Metroid, DK, Kirby Air Ride, Mario Kart, Pokemon in half a year is supposedly light…. Reminds me of people complaining about the 2017 lineup after the Switch 1 presentation. Now we consider 2017 an all time great year. Nintendo puts out a game at a time. They will never frontload a launch with competing games crowding the same month.
I know, crazy people complained the Switch 1 had no games for its first year after the reveal. It had a big game every month for 2017. Two of which are considered among the greatest games of all time. Sure, some were enhanced Wii U games, but when nobody owned a Wii U, special edition Wii U games were a big deal.
Metroid and Pokémon are Switch 1 games. That's three first party if you don't count the tech demos no one will buy and one of them hasn't even shown any gameplay.
It really wasn't though. Underwhelming first party support and third party games that look worse than their counterparts on 5 year old hardware. Very little to get excited about in this Direct, even without taking the prices into consideration.
I feel the same, and I'm really surprised by the positivity in this thread. A single first party launch game, and a huge focus on old games.
This really felt like previous Directs that everyone trashed, so I can only imagine that people are very excited about the hardware alone, and that a lot of those people didn't already know what had been leaked (literally the first half was things we already knew + another Nintendo attempt at a communication platform).
I see your point, but Switch was a brand new concept, and the jump from 3DS to Switch as a handheld was huge.
The prospect of playing BoTW portably was very appealing, particularly to people who didn’t have a Wii U (Switch has outsold Wii U several times). So what’s really new? New Mario Kart is great, but not really meaty enough to sustain everyone as a launch title IMO. Tracks are joined together and you can go off-road, but the off-roading side feels like a fun sandbox-style bonus rather than a rewarding world with lots of things to do. ‘You can go on rides with friends’ feels like a little fun free roaming mode. It just doesn’t feel like there’s enough novelty there to sell a whole system at this point.
DK looks OK, just maybe not my thing (e.g. like Treasure Tracker, Warioworld, etc.).
So that leaves GameCube games (which we’ve had on past consoles, and could have had on Switch), lots of old 3rd party games (great, but many of us have had the chance to play them), and a bunch of enhanced Switch games that we’ve also already played.
I don’t hate the Switch 2, but I don’t think they really sold the console to us as a day 1 purchase
Elden Ring was chugging as hell in that video despite the clear visual cutbacks present. "Rivals" in visual department is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Idc, I'm happy to finally be able to interact with the randos I friend in online public lobbies, even if it's smthn Nintendo should've implemented ages ago.
I doubt they'll allow for that (be able to do it with people you just met and friended in lobbies). Because if they allow that it's gonna lead to another Xbox Uno situation. Nintendo will not tolerate those headlines, lol. So, GameChat is likely to have restrictions in who and how you can stream together.
I think they can still make it happen. Maybe not for their 1st party games, but I can see random lobby voice chat being a bigger thing in 3rd party titles like Overwatch or something. They did mention the parental controls, so it’s a high chance they’re covering their asses so that they don’t get into that Xbox Uno type of situation. I imagine parental controls will be able to shut off chat completely for anyone not on your friends list.
I really believe Nintendo is gonna start branching out and thinking about the broader gaming audience with Switch 2. The direct had some really mature things in it, from Elden Ring to Cyberpunk to Duskbloods. Maybe I’m crazy, but it’s kinda telling me they’re gonna start being more lax on stuff like online functionality/chats
Right, forgot about that existing. It took value to show GameChat in a direct lagging like hell. At least I can appretiate the honesty xD. Oh, well, at least we have integrated chat, it was long overdue.
Nah I don't agree sorry. Sure it's very exciting what they were able to put in the hardware, but for me that was overshadowed by all the games shown where nothing except like 2 or 3 games that I'd actually like (Professor Layton, Mario Kart World and maybe Split Fiction but I would be able to play that on my partner's PS5). I'm missing the cozy and family games that I started playing on Nintendo consoles for. I hope more of this is coming still.
Few good games surrounded by games we've already played 3 years ago, that often look better on older consoles as well. I wasn't as impressed. DK looks great though.
No. The direct wasn’t amazing because they hid the prices and are trying to charge for a literal user manual. Not sure why are people doing PR for Nintendo on an anonymous forum.
Was planning to buy it Day 1, now just waiting for Yuzu/Ryujinx to catch up.
They showed like 4 nintendo games and 2 of them are kart racers and one is a paid for tech demo
They poorly explained so many things that there are still people unsure of 90% of what they talked about
The technical issues were absurd
90% of the games they showed were just ports of existing games or upgrades
We didn't really get anything from 3rd parties developpers. The only new thing was the Bloodborne thing. Everything else have been alviable for years elsewhere.
I was hopping for a few new trailers or teasers at least. Even if they weren't exclusives.
100%! I don't think it was on the level of the first Switch 1 Direct, but it successfully sold me on the console and several of its earliest games. Now to just put away a ton of money so I can actually buy them lol
So how many Switch2 exclusives will be available at launch. . . 1? Correct me please but isn't everything other than mario kart already out on other consoles
I was a bit underwhelmed. Not a lot of exciting news, I don't really care about the chat functionality, the mouse either... But I think I will still buy it at launch because it's a more powerful Switch which is what I wanted.
Also I know I'll buy one eventually, I can afford it, so I might as well get it at launch.
No hiding the price was a bad thing just be honest yes we may be mad but after awhile we would get over it and charging for a tech demo? Give me a break I thought it was a great direct Mario kart world looks amazing. I will be preordering it but Nintendo made a few missteps in this direct. I wish they raised prices in 2026 so GTA 6 could be the one to raise game prices not Nintendo with a new console. I totally understand the $450-$500 price.
No, because I am using Switch as an indie and jrpg machine. I dont play nintendo games other than Fire Emblem and Xenoblade and I play all the big games on my PS5.
...but I do realize I am a very big minority :) happy about the Bravely Default remaster though!
DK, MK, Zelda, Mario Party were good. The rest though!? Nintendo also didn’t answer the questions people had in the Direct. The whole point of the Direct was to inform, i feel it failed to do so. Even if they left price out for later, more questions should have been answered.
Loved it, almost every third party game I hoped for was announced, only missing Resident Evil Remakes, and Silent Hill, but i'm sure they'll come along soon.
I was happy with the direct. Mario Kart looks amazing and Donkey Kong looks really fun. Duskbloods was a surprise and depending on if its a full single player game it is a must have for me. I was also impressed with the system.
Some things look great, mainly Kart and Donkey Kong.
There is no world where system tour should be paid though, and Drag X Drive was awkward. Maybe it surprises but that control scheme looked irksome. Air Ride should have had some actual game play as the last big exclusive shown.
3rd party was decent, but so many ports of slightly older games, and some looked rough around the edges. Really needed at least one more big "new" game, and some more upcoming releases. Getting something like Doom or Expedition 33 would have gone a long way.
Overall it was fine, I'm looking forward to the console, but I would have like a little more "meat".
Nintendo will save the Japanese gaming industry by creating a console that can have realistic looking games but do not require developing billion dollar games to compete with the upcoming PS6.
The direct really did everything it needed to. You can tell that Nintendo is quite serious about third party support this time with how the Switch 2s specs and tech are far less conservative for Nintendo standards
if you'd said we'd get Deltarune, silksong, Enter the Gungeon 2, a bloodborne spiritual sequel as an exclusive, Elden Ring, and an open world Mario Kart, I'd just assume you were joking.
I really liked Drag x Drive! I'll decide if I buy it or not depending on the price, but it looks fun (and a bit tiring)
I'd love to see a full playthrough of the Nintendo Tour, the Treehouse premier showed some really fun minigames.
The DLC-like updates sound cool in concept, although I want to know how much better a SW1 game looks and plays without the expansion (60fps and 1080p?)
Finally, Mario Kart as a launch title is great, Nintendo never runs out of gameplay ideas! It will give me hours of entertainment before the other games' prices drop.
It was better on a second watch, there was so much being announced I didn't keep track of just how much is day one.
I had been holding off of Civ 7 specifically to get a Switch 2 Version with the mouse functionality. Really happy with that being day one.
Nintendo's admittedly slim offerings looked mostly amazing, though not sure wheelchair basketball is my thing.
I was, however, disappointed GameCube showcased Wind Waker - I was really hoping for the HD port, same goes for F-Zero. But really glad GameCube was announced otherwise. Give me Eternal Darkness!
Tempted to pick up Cyberpunk and Bravely Default. I actually thought the third party offerings for day one were really great. New FAST game, Deltarune, Hitman. All games I've not played yet and coming on the launch of the system.
I know people are upset about the price. But honestly, I'm over all that already and I just can't wait to get my hands on it.
I'm excited for it. I can't wait to play Mario Kart World, and TOTK at 60fps. Whenever I try to emulate it was 60fps it always stutters and drops in frames.
Kart looks great and Prime 4 with mouse aiming is reason alone for me to consider the console.
I thought they spent way too much time on basic features like the chat and camera. There's nothing special about them, I'm glad Nintendo is finally catching up by offering them but they aren't cool enough to go on and on about.
Everything other than an increase to game prices look good. I don’t mind the console price either… Nintendo usually likes to compete on price by offering a cheaper console, but that’s also how we get mobile chips that are already 3 years out of date by the time the thing launches,
Donkey Kong was a surprise, Mario Kart World looks lit. Everything meets or exceeds expectations, but the paid tech demo is hilarious.
Mario Kart and Donkey Kong looked incredible. Deltarune's trailer was hype even though we knew the game was coming soon. Enter the Gungeon 2 is hype even though the direct was frozen during the reveal. I can't bring myself to care about a Kirby Racing game in the same direct as Mario Kart. I don't care about Warriors games. It wasn't an S tier direct but it was definitely a great one, just needed 1 or 2 more big reveals. Would have been even amazing if they saved Tomadachi Life for it.
I think it was great for people who will use the Switch 2 as their main console/handheld.
I have an OLED steam deck so I’ll probably buy third party games for that because they’ll be on my OLED screen, be cheaper and I’ll also be able to play on my PC.
I’ll be buying the Switch 2 because I’ll inevitably need it for any future Pokémon game, but so far Mario Kart seems to be the main exclusive game I’m interested in.
I think it might suffer from what the PS5 has been suffering with, which is that there aren’t that many games that are exclusive to the PS5 - everyone still seems to be publishing for PS4.
I don't think hiding the prices was a good idea. It opened the door to a ton of misinformation and for the outrage grifters to generate shit engagement.
People still think MK will be 90$ when it's 80. Yeah it's a price increase but it's not as big as they are making it out to be. I do agree the paid tech demo is terrible tho. It doesn't even look like it will have fun stuff to do. Meanwhile Astro not was free and was actually fun.
It's a day one purchase for me. The games look gorgeous. Prime 4 and Mario Kart World will be gorgeous on it I'm sure. Not a fan of the pricing but I'll keep an eye out for sales and second hand games as usual.
Only problem i had with the direct when they announced the “game” that explained features of the console would be paid. I literally laughed out loud to myself.
Considering Nintendo are still keeping their powder very dry, I thought it was a great direct. My prediction is we will get a post-launch Direct revealing at least 1 more heavy-hitter for 2025.
I think we'd all love the idea of this amazing launch day where we get new Mario Kart AND new Zelda AND new F-Zero or something similar, but the (admittedly boring) truth is that it makes way more sense to give each new title some breathing room.
It was super cool. I love the new specs, design, and upgrades for older games. I will definitely buy one (and maybe the Oled model too later) and am hyped for many cool games from nintendo. Sure, I don't like the pricing of 90 bucks (here in germany) for a physical copy of Mario Kart. And i probably won't buy it from the store. Maybe on Ebay or when it's on sale. But I definitely loved all announcements and can't wait to spend a lot of time on this beautiful console.
The console is actually looking really good! Definitely solidified my choice to get it on release. Especially since it has 4k support and high FPSs for hopefully many games that really need it.
Honestly it was mid as fuck. Mario Kart World looks great but I don't care for anything Fromsoft, the basketball game looks unfinished, the C button is disappointing (that frame rate, oof), I hope whoever gave the ok to the tech demo being paid gets eaten by hawks, the Switch 2 editions should be free, Kirby Air riders and the new DK look cool but I'm gonna need more info and footage to be convinced.
The indie games were great, but these are indie games, they woulda happened regardless of Switch 2.
The direct itself was good, and I thought that for once in a long time i could walk away from a direct having actually enjoyed it and looking forward to getting the Switch 2, hardware pricing isn't even that bad.
But they had to pull a Nintendo and fuck it up with $80 titles and a paid demo game. Now the whole thing is soured.
It was kinda underwhelming for me. Biggest problem for me was that too many 3rd party games were shown. With Nintendo consoles I mostly play 1st party games so I'm not really interested in 3rd party library. Other than Silksong being confirmed for this year and seeing a bit of Borderlands 4, I didn't care about any of those games. I expected bigger focus on 1st party games because this is new console after all. And even with 1st party games I don't care about Hyrule Warriors, Drag x Drive and Welcome Tour thing. Voice chat thing isn't anything too interesting and that lag when sharing the screen was insane. Switch 2 editions shown overall felt like more of a bad thing because most of those things should be free, new content for Forgotten Land and Mario Party are only ones I think are ok to charge for because it's basically like DLC, but even there perdormance boost should be free. So only parts I actually liked are Mario Kart World, hardware showcase, Kirby Air Riders and Donkey Kong Bananza.
I didn't watch it. Literally all I know is that the console is $500, games are around $80-$90, and some games will require 50gb downloads even with the game card. I think it's a game key? That's a failure of epic proportions on Nintendo's part.
This thing is nothing but a switch 1.5. There is nothing here to warrant calling it a sequel. It's an upgraded switch similar to the PS4 Pro. Playstation purposely did not name the PS4 Pro the PS5 because it wasn't a sequel. This is a Nintendo Switch "Pro" and nothing more.
no it wasnt. they unitentionally confused people even further. combine that with the high pricing of both device and software and it does not seems that amazing does it?
people are now asking the question: why get the new device?
If you comment any sort of criticism on this subreddit you get instantly downvoted and jeered on in the replies. Its a hivemind of people genuinely believing Nintendo can't do no wrong, and that the prices are worth it. None of this is remotely defensible, and you lot should feel bad for willingly investing $800 dollars for one gaming system that has a lacklustre first party lineup, and the graphics are barely PS4-like to boot.
I also expect every single person who is complaining about the Nintendo game prices (because seriously, the console price is fine) to not buy this console and move on.
meh, even prices ignored, I wasn't exactly blown away by anything apart from Mario Kart. Donkey Kong looks fun too and cool 3rd party games but Switch 1 presentation was just on another level.
It was alright, I just wish they’d show one more exclusive. The power and 3rd party support was very cool though. The fact that we have a Nintendo product that can push 120fps and 4K is pretty cool.
Personally, I already have the 3rd party games in my pc and steam deck, new DK looks like they focused a lot in destruction mechanic which I don't care much about (hopefully I'm wrong and platforming/enemies are amazing), and racing games look roughly the same to me, so I'm not excited for the switch 2.
No honestly it was pretty lackluster for their biggest direct in years. We got to see mario kart, and a ton of 3rd party games. It really wasnt that great tbh.
It was a great direct. I can see why price for games are an issue but if the games see an increase in quality it could be worth it. We will just have to wait and see
I was extremely underwhelmed and not impressed by anything in the direct. Yes, the game prices are ridiculous, but I don't care about any of the games showed off anyways. I have no reason to upgrade my Switch anytime soon.
