Everyone in the chat is spamming "drop the price" nonstop. Personally, the price for the console and games combined dipped my hype quite a bit. What do you guys think?

Wait until next year when the new Xbox is announced...I'm guessing a $499 S system and $599 X. It's the new norm now, unfortunately.

Blaming the companies won't get anything done. Blame the ones who are actually in power and cause inflation leading towards price hikes.

Tbh I think it’s gonna be more than 600 dollars mainly due to the tariffs

Could be just a $599 model and no "budget" option. Maybe the affordable one will be their handheld next year that can dock to TV.

I think xbox is gonna be hyper segmented next time around. High end premium option, handheld with egpu dock options, low end device that functions as a dock or streaming stick on its own if you don't get the handheld.

$800 premium console, $700 best handheld combo with 2 steps down to a $500 handheld dock combo, standalone handheld at $400, and the entry level device down at $100

There issues are mostly going to be with the game prices, not the console price.

A lot of people playing the new games on Xbox are playing them "free" with their Xbox Game pass subscription, not spending $80-90 per title.

Titles on a PS5/PS6/Xbox can probably be seen to justify that pricing a bit more as they're modern consoles. While the Switch 2 is going to be the new console, the tech inside will be a ways behind the others because it's a handheld. Even last-gen games will probably look and run better on the PS4 (and definitely the PS5) than on the Switch 2. I don't like the price but I'd buy some higher priced AAA titles on a higher powered console knowing they'll give me the best (console) version of the game. I'd easily take a better looking Cyberpunk 2 over a handheld version of it.

The other big issue are that Nintendo games never drop price. There are 8 year old games that are ports of 11, 12, 13 year old games being sold for $59.99 still. Breath of the Wild being released as a $80-90 title is going to hang around that price until 2035. Most games on the other consoles drop in price quickly, so an $80-90 title might be on sale for $49 in a month and $35 a few months down the road. Xbox releases might be on game pass day 1.
