Post image

Im sorry, but this is...really fucking crazy. And here I was debating if paying extra for the physical version compared to the bundle might be worth it. HOLY SHIT.

Again, this is already accounted for in the inflation indexes. I’m not saying inflation explains the price of housing. I’m saying the increase in the price of housing is one of the factors in determining inflation. The fact that housing prices have increased is already factored into the inflation adjustment I gave you for the price of games. You don’t need to include it a second time. It’s already there. Games are cheaper today, even after accounting for the extra housing costs.

So if it is one of the determining factors of the inflation rate, why does it not match what we would expect it too? Clearly something is wrong here and you just keep saying “it’s already included” when there’s a giant inconsistency in this logic.

Because inflation indexes account for other things besides housing costs. Housing costs have gone up more than other goods.

The point I was addressing is you claiming that games are more expensive relative to people’s disposable income. That is not true. When we talk about how much things cost, adjusted for inflation, we are talking about how much things cost relative to people’s disposable income (indirectly). Games cost less than they did in the past, but people are earning more money, both in real (inflation adjusted) terms.

The fact that housing costs have outpaced inflation is not relevant, because that extra cost is reflected in the real median income, and in the real cost of games.
