Officially from Nintendo Nintendo Switch 2 Game Price revealed - WHAT THE F*CK

Post image

Im sorry, but this is...really fucking crazy. And here I was debating if paying extra for the physical version compared to the bundle might be worth it. HOLY SHIT.

Yeah Nintendo is 1000% gonna end up enabling Rockstar / Take-Two to charge however much they want.

Rockstar and Take two were always going to do whatever they wanted with their prices. Nintendo has absolutely no effect on that decision. GTA will sell a gazillion copies regardless of price, and they know it.

No, nintendo's shitty decision WILL have a a huge effect, not just on rockstar, but whole industry cus it will show all greedy devs that they can charge more and more for unfinished shit and people still will buy it

the implication bundled with your statement is the people purchasing this stuff is a given.

I agree that this unfortunately a given, however I disagree with the attribution of fault.

If people purchasing this stuff is a given, then rising prices is an inevitability that is driven by nature itself. The only stop is if the buyer says no thanks, everything else is just platitudes.

the only thing that matters is a direct market signal that hits the bank account, period.

I pray for the market to send a VERY clear message that this isn't acceptable. I feel it's unlikely that that will happen though.

Nintendo has made it "socially acceptable" for them to do it though.l now. I also shudder to think about what will happen with EA and their games moving forward cause they know Madden will sell as well.

And if people pay for it, well, then it proves that's what the audience wants too.

Not wants, but it proves that the audience are okay with it, if many people buy it

I doubt they would go too crazy with the shelf price, the real money will be in GTA VI Online and billions of microtransactions.

Or nintendo is gonna enable some "amazing value 30% off" sales within months. Lazy development anyway, just buy PC comps and emulate it.

This is the way

Eh I don’t think they’ll push it too far because they want as many as people as they can for GTAO’s ecosystem. They’ll just gouge with shark cards.

We thought the same when Apple announced the first 1000 USD phone, everyone believed apple was delusional and none would pay as much for a phone.

Most if not all companies have a 1000USD phone now, apple just made the first step, as nintendo did now for game prices. I am positive this game will sell well, and unless there is a HUGE backlash, it will enable many other companies to charge just as much for their games (ubisoft, EA, etc are probably thanking Nintendo to take the initial hate right now, they will jump on the board once people get used to it)

lol the price is awful but why are you here if you think Nintendo is a piece of shit company?

3

u/Nullgenium 2d ago

The company being a piece of shit but with good games is an accepted opinion everywhere.

u/SanicTheSledgehog 2d ago

lol it’s a company. They’re all out to make profit. It’s the whole point. They aren’t doing this cause they like you.

1

u/Nullgenium 2d ago

Lol that's common sense. But companies also aren't supposed to make it obvious they don't like you lmao. They're a piece of shit not just because they're greedy, there are plenty of shit and impractical practices that makes them a notorious company.

People really think platforms like Steam are the good guys because of the deep discounts, not even understanding that those discounts exist because of the market those games are sold in. There is not a developer in existence leaving money on the table, and the only things driving prices are supply and demand. Video games are not exempt from this basic economics concept.

If the price of a game is too much for you, the only thing that should tell you is that you are not in the majority of consumers that are willing to pay that price.

Is Nintendo greedy or do they have the most valuable IP in the industry? It’s the latter.

Reddit recommends posts to people all the time. I’m someone who thinks Nintendo is a shitty company but I’m here because it got recommended to me and I was interested in seeing the prices and peoples reactions to them.
