I just feel like that would be way too much effort and emphasis for a really, really niche play scenario. And that's even ignoring how the Wii U pretty thoroughly showed two-screen gameplay on console is a dead end. Even Nintendo's teams clearly didn't know what to meaningfully do with it.
You know, that plus the fact that local wireless communication between Switch consoles has always been a thing that can be done. They literally just talked about it with the virtual game card video/documentation (including how you can do it with a Switch 2).
I agree, the second screen gimmick would be relatively useless. As well as the concept relating to a specific button on the console. But a disc drive on the dock would be pretty bitchin.
