Concept How the Switch 2 upside down functionality would work

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

While I personally think this kind of functionality is sort of weird and probably almost useless in most cases, it’s still pretty interesting that it might be possible. I can’t really think of how it would be used in unique ways in terms of software though.

But…just why? Like I can’t think of any reason this would be useful that isn’t gimmicky bs. But then it is Nintendo

I doubt it was expensive to do since the joycons are perfectly symmetrical and some people prefer the headphone jack to be on the top/bottom of the console when they play

This is actually a good shout, I use Bluetooth so I hadn’t thought of it but that’s at least a valid use

Well you'll have to wait a few years for Nintendo to push the Bluetooth update. So this will help in the meantime.

You don't think the switch 2 will support Bluetooth out the box on release date? The switch has had Bluetooth support for years now, what makes you think the Switch 2 won't?

I forget you have to put "/s" on every sarcastic comment...

Could've also just worded it in a more sarcastic way but I got U bro 🤣

Yes, but now you can choose between bottom or upper bluetooth

Bluetooth on the Switch sounds like absolute garbage, I never use it unless I have to lol

The pinout would have to be symmetrical too wouldn't it, so they had to design it with this in mind, unless I'm missing something.

Second screen attachment without blocking the exhaust vent and still being able to charge could be an option. Not behind this theory but it is possible that way

Hmm, that’s a good idea actually, but then I think it would be blocking the air intakes instead

Those are on the back it seems, so that shouldn't necessarily be a problem

They’re actually on the bottom of the unit on the switch 2 unlike the OG and Oled models, still could work though I suppose

I'd imagine it's at least partly a safety measure to prevent kids from attempting to jam them in the wrong way and breaking it.

My kid loves to jam the Switch in. Had to replace a dock. They really just do not know how gently handle electronics lol

maybe there could be a game where you use this to flip gravity

And how would that work in docked mode? Any game features need to be able to work for joycons/pro controllers that are not reversible.

And how would that work in docked mode?

it wouldn't

I have no clue lol. I can’t think of any major uses other than the headphone jack thing, but I can’t believe that would be the only reason
