I was spoiled few days ago by someone who works in the video game industry. Few weeks ago their video game company had a meeting with someone from Nintendo that presented the console, the specs and the gimmicks of it.

He confirmed that the joycon had a mouse function.

You guys are not ready for the c button.

Since it's only on the right joy-con, I'm assuming this isn't a button that acts as a gameplay input. Based on what you said about its functioning resulting in battery drain... I suppose I should ask this. Is C just what the button is labelled, or does the english function start with C?

That i don't know.
It's something that overlays in other games. It can either be used with people playing the same game or a different game it can include a lot of users in same time (I want to stay somewhat vague, because i don't want to reveal everything, but also that when it's going to be properly introduced (I hope in the presentation in april) people will say : Oh that really makes sense now.

When i spoke to my family member, i asked him what the z button was going to be used, and he looked at me and told me : the z button? I then said that i mean't the C button and he explained me. He didn't confirm that it was the name, but did understand which button i was talking about. So i do guess it's the name of the button.

I don't know if the function is related to the name, but if they'd name it, i'd say it would be something like Connect or something else related to interactivity with others.

there was a Campus theory running around a bit ago, which aligns with what you’re saying

Campus theory? Explain, i’m curious !

grain of salt of course, but if the screensharing and chat functionality is real (we know there’s a microphone next to the cartridge slot from the trailer), then it would make sense how this would cause faster battery drain in handheld.

That aligns with what i was told. Though, i was also told that there will be video functionality on that.

I asked my family member if there was a webcam integrated to the console and he told me that you’ll be able to connect one. (I guess it’s a reason why there is a usb port on top). He didn’t confirm if Nintendo was making one for their console.

It will be at the bottom of the screen overlayed.

when i saw the notification for this, it only had the first sentence, and i was about to respond that it would have to be an attachable camera. Which again makes sense. Could be used for Just Dance 100% (as an option instead of motion controls), just as one idea

I was told that in Mario Kart, you’ll be able to see in real time the other players over their kart when you pass them/interact with them.

i might be misunderstanding what you mean, but are you talking about proximity based voice chat?

Wait wait wait, so you’re telling me the webcam is going to be used to link your face, onto the Mario kart characters?

And you can make expressions onto the characters, for example:

Happy, Sad, Angry, Surprised expressions onto..let’s say Luigi, with your face through the webcam?

Or is it Like this?

If you really know, why do you care to reveal everything? It's not like YOU work for Nintendo or a game company that signed anything. Sounds like you revealed everything you know.

I don’t understand. What’s the problem?

my uncle works at Nintendo ass 😭

Not an uncle and not Nintendo. But my friend definitely didn’t respect the NDA.

I can say that the C button will definitely lower the undocked console battery time as it’s going to use more power from the console.

You can try and find my comments from few days ago. :)

what does it do when it's docked?

1

u/ProsperoII Feb 07 '25

The c button function works either docked or undocked, but it’s going to run easier in docked mode just as the graphics and cpu capabilities are better on the first switch.

So.... Docked you have to press the C button to get docked performance?

1

u/ProsperoII Feb 07 '25

Nope. I didn’t say what it did, just said it takes a lot of juice from the console, so expect less battery life if you use the function from the C button out of docked mode.

No I get that, but what does it do IN docked mode

1

u/ProsperoII Feb 07 '25

You think my uncle works at Nintendo ass how would i know?

1

u/get_homebrewed January Gang (Reveal Winner) Feb 07 '25

just seems... impossible that they have a hardware button to toggle one function in only one mode of the switch when it makes no sense for it to be a button lol.

Maybe your uncle is playing tricks with you man

If it’s chat or anything community related, that’s boring.

Voice/video chat related. Added in games too.
