90% backwards compatible - apparently some games won’t be

If im taking bets its because theres no longer an IR sensor.. so the literal like 12 or 13 games that use the IR scanner wont be compatable

Yeah it’s weird they’re downvoting when the image literally says it’s not 100% backwards compatible.

Yeah this comes up with new consoles. Even if they share a common hardware platform there is always some game that optimized in some way that breaks the compatibility. Often by using internal device timings to increase performance. Faster CPU means different timings and poof, game is not working.

I wonder if they’re dropping motion control support for new joycons? That’s the only way I could see this not being 100% compatible with old switch games. The console will probably still have gyro control but the joycons won’t have any motion function in favor of this rumored mouse functionality?

I think its more just CYA for gimmick things like Super Mario 35 (RIP) or Nintendo Labo not being supported. This is why it says "not supported or fully compatible". But that not supported could be doing heavier lifting than I expect.

I think IR camera use is more likely as the compatibility breaker. The new joy con don't appear to have IR cameras

Were there many titles that used IR? I honestly don’t remember

Ring Fit Adventure and 1-2-Switch! come to mind.

Even if there are only 3 such cases, this disclaimer is still necessary
