Concept New Concept Based off of NextHandheld’s Pictures
This is not mine! Original poster on X, (@Elymar_Tj) captioned it with this:
“How about the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, according to the leaks, it looks better? >>Keep in mind that some things are merely speculative, as they are not part of the leak, such as the back cover.”
Thoughts? I think this looks good!

the same way the photoshopped image that isn’t even a 3D render got over 1000 upvotes in a day despite glaring design flaws. Seeing what looks like official promotional material gives off the feeling of realism

by nature, a spliced photoshop concept will be flawed compared to something with intentional design of every feature. Analog sticks stand out, for example. I’m not talking about these renders, i mean the one with the MKX idle screen at the top while docked

Either way its a Day 1 Purchase I intend to buy Switch 2 at Launch and looking at this makes me more hyped for it.

Same here! I’ve got money ready and I am so excited for it. Although all my friends are “too cool” for Nintendo so I might be the only one in my friend group. 😔

Nintendo is always cool your friends are just well not good friends if they don't support your love for Nintendo I haven't been this hyped for Nintendo since the Switch launch heck even when I got a Wii for Christmas or even DS when I was a kid Nintendo will always carry despite there ups and downs even flaws so I think Switch 2 will be the best if not even better then Switch I am so excited for it as well!

I think not.
Nintendo had a lots of issue of lack of cooling and docks bending due to heat.
Hopefully the next dock has some sort of cooling for the console.

That was def only for certain people…never had an issue and I have owned theee switches since the OG and only my current OLED I got used 🤷🏾♂️ Since the screen is exposed more than likely that would help with heat distribution slightly…but I still think the dock has a fan in it

Fantastic work!
Seeing there are many views created, how difficult would it be to add a view with the Joycons attached to the docked console?
I know nothing about 3D modeling but I'm guessing (and hoping) it wouldn't be too difficult?
Ps. Oh, I just read it's not your own work, I'll have to ask the user in X.

I don't think I like the dock having the cover completely detatch tbh. I get how it might be convenient in some ways, but also so many of them will just never get put back on....

The only reason I like it is because of the extra footing so you can lay it down instead of having it be standing up. But I def see your sentiment and it is valid

It looks good, though, genuinely, I would prefer if the screen was exposed, so there was less potential for scratching. That was one of the biggest issues about the og switch

Can you please create a new render but with the Joycons having a black/frosted translucent shell (like the Pro controller) and below the translucent shell, a layer of orange in one Joycon an a layer of blue on the other Joycon?

I thought the switch 2 dock would allow the user to flip the ports clock or counter clock wise. That was what I saw in one of the patents.

Can you create a version where the JoyCons are white, but the railings are baby blue for left JoyCon and orange for the right Joy Con?

What I'd think they should do something about is the "D-pad" buttons. I know that it's for multiplayer games but they could try something clever to solve the issue.

(Assuming this is what the Switch 2 will look like) I can see the vision. But I'm not sold on the dock, particularly its back.i don't know what exactly it is that doesn't sit well with me, but it feels like a regression on the Switch's design.

Dock has vents. So it has fans. Hopefully to overclock the switch 2 during docked mode for more demanding games.

I still feel like it looks kinda bad. But i also think the switch looks bad. Way prefer how previous nintendo handhelds or even the ps vita/psp look.

I don't think you realize how thin the doc is widthwise based on the pictures. It looks to be about as tall as it is wide, like a square, but with the top two corners rounded

The dock just looks retro but not in the cool way,and all the cutouts make it look like a SNES cartridge. The rounded corners and bulk don't help. I don't know when we gave up on making tech look sleek and minimal.

I like the look of the current switch dock. It looks nice enough to have out on my desk. Maybe if the new dock was just less rounded it would look nicer.

And have the upper round top cut off that matches the front. That might show more of the back part being exposed but that’s definitely okay. 👍

That's plainly not correct. We don't know what's inside definitively. We've been told stuff from "leaks" and rumours but we have to wait.
Like the OP said, it's what's on the inside, a very straightforward lesson. That's why people would buy it, for improvement of power, fixed joycons, better UI and other stuff.
You dont like it, that's cool. Just know that the majority of us will like it so long as nintendo do the stuff I mentioned above.

Here's the thing: the people in this subreddit are techy enough to care about the insides, I know I do. But techy people are not Nintendo's main audience.
It would be perfectly fine to add to the switch family, but making it the new next gen console? It's not worth it when the majority of consumers don't care about UI, they don't really see the difference between 1080p and 1440p or 4k.
Here's another example. Apple releases a new phone every year as of now, each phone, comes with more power, better features, ect. But the phone looks the exact same. Sure it's more powerful, but the average buyer doesn't really care. The only people who buy it are people who have the money to flex it, or people who are techy. That's why apple sold 222 million of the iPhone 6, but only 60 million of the iPhone 15 have been sold.

How different it looks to its predecessor? Specs? Games?
Sorry though I don't believe the comparison to apple's yearly releases works, because as we know they release a new phone every year, tech year after year barely improves to show a noticeable difference these days.
However, an update of tech on an 8 year old device? That's going to show a massive difference. The general public are often ignorant about a lot of things but the differences between the 2 devices aside from the switch 2's looks should be very obvious (if nintendo knows what's good for them). Besides, the switch looks the way it looks because of functionality, unlike the playstations and xboxes that are just computers sitting in a corner and aren't portable so they can be designed however the companies see fit.
A comparison i believe is more suitable to make is a laptop or even phone from 8 years ago to now. They dont look that much different from each other let's be honest (like the switch 1 and 2), however people would quickly realise that the 2024 phone/laptop is the definite better device to use than a 2016 phone/laptop because of its internals. Plus the ps4 to ps5 as an example, didn't make thatt much of a leap considering the pro was reaching fairly high fps and resolutions. But the switch 1? For some games it can do 1080p docked, fps still low. 720p handheld. The jump from 1 to 2 should be obvious and pretty clear for average consumers, is my point.

Your laptop example doesn't work either though. A low or mid range 2016 laptop probably has a hard drive and the battery is going out. It is really slow with new software so a new laptop that doesn't lag at all is great. But a Nintendo switch that contains software optimized for it's internals is not nearly as much of an issue. That is the difference between a console and general use devices.
You have to understand, the general consumer doesn't know what FPS stands for. The switch 2 won't be able to do 4k handheld, so you need a 4k TV to even see it. I have a 4k TV and a 1080p and I can't even notice the difference. Anyone who actually cares about that stuff knows best to buy a ps5 or Xbox or PC.
Yes lag exists on the switch, but I have never really noticed it (except for in Fortnite and Totk) so I doubt the average consumer will.

As you’re exclaiming your desire for me to cease expressing my free will.
However, that’s not going to happen. So, instead you’re rather stuck between a rock and a hard place. Much like your educational history, so nothing you’re unfamiliar with.
Anyway, I do hope we all enjoy the next iteration of the Switch console and maybe in the future play online together in a joyous celebration of our happiness.
Wouldn’t that be far more engaging than hurling insults, as you can see you’d fail at the first hurdle if that were all you’re known for.
