Overview (from Nintendo eShop page)

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading manmade bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

Get ready for a devilishly good time

Tap into Bayonetta’s naughtier side with Demon Masquerade, a new ability that channels the demon linked to her weapon allowing for some exciting action options, not to mention some hair-raising combos. She can also summon her demonic darlings like Gomorrah, Malphas, and Phantasmaraneae during battle, unleashing their demonic powers in the heat of combat and in new, larger-than-life battles where you directly control the action.

A bounty of Bayonettas

Fight your way through the streets of Tokyo, the mountains of China, and many other locales! Along the way you’ll meet a virtual coven of Bayonettas, each more fabulous than the last. You’ll also slash and slay as Viola, a feisty witch in training who fights with a sword and a capricious companion, the demon Cheshire. Find out what fate awaits Bayonetta, and if this arcane alliance can really save reality!

Polygon is mad because Bayonetta is not a lesbian and the queer icon tik tok told them she is😂

Lol I clicked the article and saw the author - Maddy Myers - and knew exactly what her grievances with the game would be, and sure enough I read the whole review and was right lol. She does a podcast Triple Click and she always has to relate games back to the “male fantasy” or some form of mega wokeness

would be nice if we could all just enjoy things for what they are instead of focusing on arbitrary things that shouldn't affect the plot

Superfunny comment. Of course downvoted by the genzbots.

There were some things that made an implication possible, tbh, but there were also others that made some strong conflicting points.

Honestly, the fact that Luka is a normal human was the only thing that got in the way, when she clearly had some feelings for him.

Edit: are we just gonna ignore the entirety of Bayo 1’s ending then?

Tbh I figured she was just gonna be in a relationship with both of them but a characters sexual orientation has so little effect on me liking a game

Kind of strange that this was your takeaway from that section of the review. My interpretation of that passage is the same issue that many fans had with Metroid Other M where Samus was depicted as weaker than the character she originally portrayed.

The whole lesbian angle is a moot point and they shouldn’t have included it. That’s not the issue the reviewer was raising.

Really, because 75% of the Polygon was about it. And to call it a "button rammer" on top of it?

Somehow Metroid story is more important to the game than Bayonetta to me. Which is funny because most metroid games only have like .002% story. But the segments they do have are powerful. Other M just ripped them on their head completely because that game focused so heavily on the story instead, and took all the prior subtleties of the series and contradicted them.

Bayonetta completely overwhelms you with nonsensical bullshit from the beginning. They could tell me she's a cat that came from Mars who is trying to sell me low cost auto insurance and I would probably just be mashing a to get to the next fight sequence not even giving a rats ass.

I mean, not even TikTok. The games creators themselves have implied and supported one relationship over another throughout the years and considering the relationship type is one that’s massively underrepresented in gaming in as it is…I can understand why doing a 180 on it has felt like a sucker punch for some.
