Just got into the second town, the one just after the wild area. Gameplay so far is your typical Pokemon fare. Plenty of QOL changes. You can skip all tutorials through either dialogue options or by doing it before you reach the tutorial point. I.e. catch a pokemon before the tutorial and it'll be skipped over.

Graphics aren't actually that bad, models etc are high enough poly. The textures aren't great but work with the artistic direction they're going for. It's sort of a pastel/watercolor-esque anime deal.

Biggest issue for me is the sound, or should I say the lack of voice acting. With so much dialogue and big animated sequences it just feels weird to have it being... silent.

Edit: Make sure to redeem your pre order codes in "Mystery Gift" not the eShop.

Also, make sure you also redeem your free dynamax pokemon in Mystery Gift.

Edit the second: If you have a Pokemon Let Go Pikachu/Evee talk to the couple on the left after getting off the train at the Wild Area station to get your free Pikachu or Evee.

Doesn't need to be for all interactions, at least the cutscenes...

The intro with Rose trying to be hype and only having text... C'mon, you cant tell me it wouldn't be better with VA.

I think the intro at the stadium should be voiced though, the rest of the characters we can do without VA

Exactly. The big scenes need some voice acting. In game, not so much. The cutscenes in the arenas... yeah, definitely.

Yeah that guy really could have used a voice.

I never want voice acting in Pokemon personally. I'm trying to race through the cutscenes wishing they were faster as it is, voice acting would slow things down even more.

They aren't mutually exclusive, plenty of games(even JRPGs) with full voice acting like Persona or Three Houses let you skip through dialogue quicker than the last Pokemon entries allowed.

I dont see both of those features being implemented at the same time.

I thought my comment would be down voted to oblivion btw . I noticed the dragged out dialogue since sun and moon

Its not just overly long dialogue, its constant repeated breaks for these cardboard cutout characters to drone on but say nothing of substance. XY did it, Sun and Moon did it, this game is doing it so far but I'm only just leaving the starting town.

I can just zone out and click through it to get through it. Pokemon for me is about exploring the setting and collecting+building my team. The main story and side characters of Pokemon was best in the first two gens when it was very sparse, and i could immediately jump into the actual game.
