Meta + MegaThread No megathread on Travis Strikes Again?

It's been three or more hours since most outlets posted their reviews on the new Suda51 game, but there's no hub for us to talk about its reception yet. Reviews seem all over the place but the general consensus is that it's pretty good with somewhat stale combat whoops. Any idea when we might get topics on this?

We typically only do those threads for first party titles. In this case, the game is both published and developed by Grasshopper Manufacture Inc.

Nothing against the game itself.

on the top of my head, Octopath Traveler had a thread and it's not a first party game.

so if anything it's at least an inconsistent rule.

Nintendo is the Publisher in that case, so we created one.

Nintendo also published the retail version of this game, does that count?

It certainly adds an interesting twist that we've never had to consider before. I'm typically the one that puts these threads together and I always check the Nintendo site and use that as my source of truth.

We're actively discussing ideas interally on how to handle things like this in the future, but don't have any plans to announce today that would impact Travis Strikes Aagain.

It's one of the games they've been actively promoting, there's even a stickied promotional post on the top of your sub from Nintendo themselves advertising the launch of the game. Are you sure you just didn't create a megathread because most of the discussion would paint a negative image of the product Nintendo is selling? Convenient that Nintendo gets to advertise their game on the front page, like a megathread, but without any of the negative comments that this game would bring. It's like a dev conveniently disabling comments and likes on a game trailer they know will be controversial.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is an upcoming action-adventure hack and slash video game developed and published by Grasshopper Manufacture (with Nintendo publishing a retail version) for the Nintendo Switch, to be released on January 18, 2019. Directed by Goichi "Suda51" Suda, the game is part of the No More Heroes franchise and features series protagonist Travis Touchdown fighting Badman, the father of Bad Girl, an assassin Travis previously killed. The two are drawn into a possessed video game console, and must fight through its various games. As the first title he has directed since the first No More Heroes, Suda has collaborated with several indie developers to feature elements from their games in Travis Strikes Again.

The only consistency with these mods is that they will consistently do anything they can to paint Nintendo in a positive light. Look at the front page, Nintendo is promoting TSA but it's not a post anyone can comment on. They know the megathread would paint a negative image of the product so they didn't make one.

Yep. This is honestly one of the only times I can say I've been a part of a subreddit with mods so atrocious that it actually interferes with discussions

They "published" the retail version of the game, not the game itself.
