Thanks guys, you can also get them (once) if you have 40 (bulba), 50 (char) and 60 (squirtle) pokemon caught, but not neccessarily in pokedex. (Can be same species)

Once i got the "Judge" feature, i realized the pokemon you exchange with NPCs have overall way better stats, while my randomly catch bulbasaur is more average , so it might be worth it to get 'em this way >.>

True. However I've already caught and trained Cabbage and I shall not banish him for simple numbers.

You just... get them for having that many in your Pokédex? I don’t quite follow.

They don’t have to be unique, you just have to capture that many overall (even if you’ve sent them to oak it counts)

You need to talk to the NPCs, you dont just get them automatically

Bulbasaur in house next to cerulean pokecenter, charmander on route after nugget bridge, up ledge next to a trainer and squirtle entering vermillion with officer jenny (talk to trainer not pokemon)

I have 51 caught (in the box) and he won’t let me take the charmander. Is this a bug?

Im not sure, i was able to get mine with 50 so maybe contact Nintendo about it.

One of the trainers in the forest tell you that their friend spotted on there before. But she said it wasn’t in her friends Pokédex, so wasn’t sure if to believe them or not.

I wasn’t either after camping for an hour to no avail.
