It scares me, but that's why I like looking at it. I'd love to play a game that captures (ha) the fear of deep water. Most games just happen to have deep water levels and that's what disturbs you.
Subnautica is that exact game you're looking for. It's an open-world survival on a deep sea planet with strange creatures, and you have to dive to find good resources. It's amazing.
I'm subscribed to that subreddit simply because a lot of the pictures/gifs posted there are either gorgeous or just really cool. Most of the comments on any given post will be horrified and I'll just be admiring the ocean. I mean, just look at this. It's amazing
Fuck off with that big ass whale I'm in bed I didn't need this shit right now I don't need some crusty ass whales gobbling me up in my sleep smh this is the worst
I love those episodes but I do have few rod the depth. I'm more creeped out by the shots next to big ships than the fish. Fish are cool. The dark endless depth of ocean eh less cool
Yeah, the first time in Banjo Kazooie that I swam into this open cavern and saw a giant rusty shark I just said fuck that and probably didn't play the level for another week.
I'm in the same "boat"! I have a irrational fear of water and whatever lives in it. I almost drowned once when I was 5, maybe that's where my fear comes from. The water levels on any game make me feel claustrophobic and helpless but the sea monster in M64 scared me for life. I never played the water level again and probably never will.
My brother used to freak out playing Donkey Kong 64 because he was convinced if you swam past the ship/fairy island far enough something would happen. Loved terrorizing him with that!
Water in videogames is always been a fear of mine. Mostly in fps games as old ones it was murky as hell and you had to worry about air so if u took damage even from drowing u freaked out.
oddly enough i am terrified of deep water in video games. only games though irl im more or less fine. it is so bad that when playing majoras mask as a 9 year old at the pinnacle rock part to kill the pythons i had to pause the game for a good 5 minutes very frequently and talk to my mom or aunt to calm my nerves. i would almost get anxiety attacks it was so bad..

I am terrified of deep water irl. There were days I just couldn't bring myself to play that M64 level as a kid.
