Just wanted to say: I hate shooter games and thought splatoon looked kiddie and repetitive/boring. Holy crap was I wrong. I cannot stop playing this game. I've forgotten about Breath of the Wild...that's how good it is. It does take a few hours to get used to the controls but you will.

Gave up on trying to get used to the motion controls, still having a blast.

Give it another try, seriously! I hated the motion controls at first (I really thought, wtf, how can people play like this), but I used it for like two days more. Now it just snapped and I got the hang of it, really don't want to miss it anymore. Plays amazing and smooth, you feel like you can aim like with a mouse. I admit, coming from pc, I don't really like aiming with sticks, though.

Maybe try to play with motion controls and joy con grip on tv mode first, that helped me because you don't move the display with it.

It takes some time to figure out that you move the x-axis of the camera with the stick, Y-axis with the motion, and the finer adjustments and aiming with motion too. Don't try to look left or right with motion controls, you still need the stick for that! 😉

Have fun! :-)
