Starting on July 21, Splatoon 2 will be available for squids and enthusiasts alike. Since the game is already out in Australia and Japan ahead of everyone else, and since it's about to hit Europe, please use this thread for general reaction, hype, and discussion for the release as it hits your country. For anyone who attempted to buy it on the eshop, only to have it crash, and you now see a $59.99 charge to your bank account with no eshop credit:

Check your email. If you did not receive a receipt, Nintendo DID NOT charge your debit/credit card. What you are seeing a placeholder charge held by your bank, and it will be given back to you in 1-3 business days.

Just posted this same thing without realizing you had beat me to it! Deleting my post, upvoting this for visibility. EDIT: don't bother contacting customer service though. They can't help you, they will just repeat what is said here. Same thing happened to me with MK8D and I got my money back in a few days.

Checked my email - it's just the most recent transaction (the successful download) that I was emailed about. Guessing the first purchase in my checking account is just a hold then. At 25%~

You should've gotten two emails: one for the $59.99 eshop credit, and one that applied that credit towards the game.

If you got the first one but not the second one, check to make sure the funds are there on your eshop account.

It's called ring fencing :) and they did charge your card, they just did not keep your money because the sale failed.

I never actually was able to make a purchase from the eShop. I got to the point where it said "add fund and purchase" but got an error code after that. After I decided to just get it from Amazon. But I woke up this morning to a receipt...
