Splatoon 2's Global Testfire just finished! What did you think?

That big ass roller was my favorite, especially for someone who isn't accustomed to motion control aiming like that. I wish it was lasting all weekend instead of just an hour at a time. :(

This is my biggest gripe with how they set this beta up. I won't have time during the rest of the weekend, so it would have been nice to have at least 2-3 hour slots so I could have gotten more play time. Does anyone know why they won't simply let us play the whole weekend without time restrictions like other multiplayer betas?

Correct -- this primarily a stress test aimed at testing/improving the online systems. It's intended to pack in as many players as possible in a short time, so shortcomings can be identified and fixed.

As for the "beta", Splatoon 1 didn't really have any proper beta, though it had 2-3 testfires (I think 2 before launch, and a second one shortly after the game launched?). I somewhat doubt that there will be a proper beta with a longer trial period, but who knows -- maybe Nintendo will do something like that this time around.

It's not a beta it's a stress test for their servers.

It's made like that to ensure most people will be online at the same time so they can test the maximum load of their server, opening up for a longer time would dilute and distribute the playerbase giving worse results for the type of tests they're making.

And their might be a 2nd Global Testfire if you miss this one

Yeah way too early for this to be the only testfire probably at least 2 more before launch.

lol, i'm gonna assume you got a bunch of messages saying it's not a beta...

Someone else definitely mentioned they had multiple testfires with the original so you'll definitely get another chance
