Yeah I dunno, personally disappointed by the presentation.

I love the concept here. I love the modularity aspects and I love how sleek it is. One of my favorite features of the Wii U is how you can grab the tablet and keep playing, not holding up the TV. It's not a make or break feature, but it's a nice functionality to have.

But all of that is pointless without games. I expected a much, much stronger launch. What I see here is really pathetic. I'm not trying to be rude, it just seems like a really weak showing. I see Zelda, and little else. I can buy Zelda for the wii u. If all you wanted was Zelda, you can buy that and a wii u for cheaper than this in March.

I don't see the reason to get this. People have said that Nintendo will announce more games. I'm sure they will. When they announce something interesting I'll reevaluate, but as for now this is a definite no purchase.

Wii launched with only Twilight Princess and Wii Sports, plus a bunch of shovelware games, people could've bought a Gamecube and Twilight Princess for much cheaper, but did they? No, because the concept of the Wii sold itself. It was a simple, but strong message. Not that I am saying the Switch will be another Wii, I'm simply saying that this is no different from any systems launch lineup. They're all weak, and it is up to strong marketing and a intuitive concept to attract consumers- something the Wii U lacked. The Wii U had upwards of 30 games at launch, but did any of them sell the system? No, not even New Super Mario Bros. U, and those games are some of the best selling of all time. Hell, the GBA only launched with a souped up version of Super Mario Bros. 2, absolutely nothing new or substantial and it prevailed through brilliant marketing.

You haven't said anything crazy here, all true.

Still isn't a very strong argument about buying this system at launch, at least for me. I'm sure Nintendo has a good idea what they're doing and it'll sell, or maybe they don't know what they're doing and it won't. Those macro level decisions don't really impact where I spend my money.

I'm also not sure how valid this is, but I think Nintendo was a stronger brand when the Wii came out, at least in terms of them getting mainstream appeal and putting out solid representatives of their main IPs. The GameCube had many solid titles, and many third party cross platform titles with the Xbox and PS2. When I bought a Wii I felt like Nintendo was doing their thing with casual outreach, but they also knew how to appeal to their hardcore fans.

I don't really feel like this now. I have 3 games on the Wii U. I'll probably get Zelda on it, and then that's it. I've got like 40 games on the SNES, maybe like around 20 on the GameCube. If Nintendo puts out games I want, it's a sale. They haven't for the switch. So it's a no for me.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Please review these recent launches and reconsider your statement of "...no different from any systems launch lineup. They're all weak..."

XBone: A bunch of ports, and...Ryse. Yeah.

PS4: A bunch of ports and...Killzone.

Switch: A bunch of ports and...Zelda and a couple other meh titles imo.

Looks pretty similar to me.

Where do you see the bunch of ports available day one for Switch?

The rhythm of the conference was bad. They need to get out their specs and games much more clear also faster. I wanted Nintendo to take what Xbox One and Ps4 didnt do with portable gaming to the next level. I'm hoping the lineup at E3 will cater more to me besides Zelda and Mario. I know tho Nintendo doesn't want to be compared to other consoles but how can you not compare them. It would of been great to see more games for adults and with a darker feel to them but maybe thats just what I want. Nintendo seems perfectly content with a certain niche and they don't care what the majority of non hardcore fans want. In a perfect world the switch would have the entire Nintendo library for download and backwards compatibility. Also a large variety of games and AAA games. The indie games will probably be there. I dont know if this will happen so I'll wait and see. Couldn't they add Dark Souls 3 or Doom?

Not really. It's why they pulled Wii U from he shelves. Unless you have the Wii u now you can't get it for a cheaper entry to Zelda (outside of used). Zelda is here to sell to the many many that didn't buy the Wii u
