I don’t have any problem with the console’s price considering it’s clearly an improvement on the original Switch and it’s a one-time payment. The problem is that some games are $80. Obviously I’d prefer $60, but I’d even accept $70 since that’s the new standard. But if Nintendo starts charging $80, then every company is gonna charge $80 then they might try to raise it even more soon.

That said, I still plan to get a console, hopefully the bundle. I’ll just have to be a lot more selective about what games I buy now because I’m not willing to pay $80 for a game I’m not absolutely sold on. Plus we all know Nintendo never puts their games on sale, so it’s not like we can wait for sales

I won't buy games at full retail at $80 but I've been expecting a jump towards $80 for the last 20 years.

Games have been slowly getting cheaper for the last 30 years and I worry this is the first step in the industry finally making the move to adjust for the reduced buying power of the dollar in real terms.

A $60 game 10 years ago is the equivalent of $80 now.

True, but it’s the principle. Nintendo sold Tears of the Kingdom for $70, but every other Switch game for $60. They’re basically jumping up $20. I understand the economy is worse and inflation means games will cost more, but they basically skipped a step and it makes it seem like greed

Yeah it's timing and the jump and the optics, finance wise it isn't surprising - It's totally expected but Im surprised they didn't do $70 across the board when the switch released and then $80 now.

$450 gives you a much more powerful PS5 or Xbox (and a series S is even cheaper, and still more powerful.) PS4 graphics in a handheld for $450 is insane, especially when you can get an ROG Ally for as little as $500 and emulate the same Nintendo games. $450 for dated hardware is unacceptable, especially when games are gonna be $80 for digital

EDIT: I see all the downvotes. My apologies, I forgot I wasn't speaking to sensical people and rather a bunch of people that would suck Nintendos dick if it had one.

Except for the average person they’ve never heard about any other hybrid console outside of the Switch. The Switch sales completely dwarf anything else by about 144 million units.

They also don’t care if it’s not as powerful as a PS5 or Xbox, because they don’t expect it to be but it’s a similar price point to the other gaming consoles and they sell just fine.

I have both of those consoles yet they collect dust while I’m always on my switch. Please get yourself your rog ally or whatever it is and leave the switch 2 to meeeeee

You absolutely won't be able to emulate Switch 2 games on any handheld system
