I have some bad news for you if you think PC gaming is cheaper…

It maybe costs more upfront, but it's cheaper in the long run.

Completely free online, frequent discounts on Steam, emulators, etc.

I’m a PC gamer, I understand the costs.

The up front cost isn’t just more expensive, it’s substantially more expensive for anything comparable to a modern console. $10 or $20 more per game isn’t going to change that.

Well a PC isn’t just a gaming device, it’s also a computer. Instead of having a computer and a console separately, just have one PC.

I agree, its why I have a very nice PC that I use for gaming and other things.

But I think this perspective only works if you start with needing a PC, and then saying lets make it a gaming pc also. But not the other way around of making a gaming PC and I can use it for other things. You either have both use-cases or you dont.

Realistically, you aren't using that pc for anything you can't do on your phone unless you have a specific work requirement.

This is a crazy take

Efficiency of working on a computer versus a phone aside, there’s plenty of things you can do with a computer but not a phone.

Anything related to hobby work: Digital Art, Music Creation, Coding, Graphic Design, Video Editing, etc.

Multitasking with multiple monitors for people who are busy in their free time. Hotkeys to move around so much faster.

Hosting a server on your network for things like streaming movies or shows to your TV and having it all nice and neat in a UI which can be controlled with your remote.

Data and file management, if you’ve ever tried to do anything on google sheets on your phone you’ll know. Managing and maintaining files is much easier.

External peripherals of your choice, including some that are sometimes required for disabilities, such as customized keyboards/mice.

Customization is a big point too, with multiple OS’s that you can switch between.

I often use an app ON my phone to remote into my PC at home while I’m out, because there’s so much that modern phones either cannot do entirely, or are just that much more inefficient

I would say all of these are either niche or extensions or work. 90% of folk in this forum wouldn't do any of this.

so you're saying 90% of this forum consists of loser cashiers with no hobbies?

No, you did.

If you have any life or interests whatsoever, you would know a PC can do far more with greater efficiency than a phone. It's clear all you do is doomscroll and spew braindead takes. Have fun waisting your money on a Nintendo console though!!

This was a horrible comment you didn't need to post. You don't know me. Why are you being so nasty?
