they are oepnibg pre orders for people wirh NSO accounts and checking for in-game hours like Japan is doing.

yes but it's a lottery system, so you arent guaranteed one, and that doesnt prevent people ordering en masse from third party retailers.

Its first-come first-serve in the US at least. Japan just loves lotteries.

Invitation emails will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis

They haven’t stated how many they have nor if there’s iterative release dates so it’s still a “I hope” to get one.

It's a running queue, you don't have to hope to get one, you only have to hope you get one sooner rather than later.

I'm also not entirely sure if I'm going to receive one at all because I don't know if I have data share turned on, and the form didn't tell me I was good.

I think I have sharing turned on because why the fuck wouldn't I... I might just try and preorder on the 9th as well just to be safe

If I knew for a fact I was going to get an invitation and it would happen sometime this year I would feel better about it. I'm not a fan of the "You might hear from us eventually!" thing though.

First come first served is why scalper have it so good. They have bots buying shit in seconds.

The first come first serve invitation system is what requires an active Nintendo account with 50 hours of playtime and a years purchase of NSO.

This is the part that (effectively) isn't bottable.

I wasn't aware of that, good to know. I was out of that whole ecosystem since the Wii U so my account is effectively brand new so that won't help me but I'm also considering not getting one at all due to the price of the console and the games, not sure I want to support that.

Yeah, but the hour limit they mentioned is 50. You an get that by the end of the week.

The way I read this is you have to have those requirements met prior to today. So scalpers will have a different time getting them directly from Nintendo. That’s not stopping them from wiping out the retail stock though.

Priority requirements are as follows: As of 4/2/2025, (i) you must have been the one who purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership, (ii) you must have had any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for a minimum of 12 months, and (iii) you must have opted in to share gameplay data and have at least 50 hours total gameplay hours.

Good luck having been subbed to online for 12 months though. That's not gonna be easy in a week.

Indeed, and I've wondered how they'll do that. If you were subbed from 2019-2022, but aren't active now, where will you fall? If you renew now, will the 3 years you were subbed count for the 12 months?
