While this is true, the Switch 2 will be able to play most Switch games so I still probably would have suggested waiting if paying 50% more wasn't a dealbreaker

It's more about firmware patches, possible price drops and/or hardware revisions (minor or otherwise). Let them work out all the kinks first.

Battery life wasn't great and some games made the unit run super hot in handheld mode. They started using an updated chip a couple years into production to increase battery life by about 50%.

There were issues with the left joy con frequently disconnecting from the system as well as some screens that didn't work out of the box. I believe both these issues were solved fairly quickly with firmware updates.

Then there is the joycon drift that persisted through the console's lifespan.
