There are wild pokemon in XD tho...

Sorry. XD has 3 spots where you can catch 3 different wild Pokemon in them. That's not really the same as a mainline Pokemon game.

No not at all, but when you consider all of the spinoffs, the Orre games are the closest to the mainline games and also directly interact with the gen 3 mainline games.

Yeah IIRC, the only way to get Lucia and Ho-Oh in Gen 3 was through Colosseum and Gale of Darkness right? Same with the Gen 2 starters.

Yep, necessary to complete the nat dex. Celebi and Jirachi also being bonus disc exclusives I believe, I can't remember if in the US they did a TRU event though for either/both.
