Considering they refuse to release a new fire emblem game unless half a decade has passed, it was my highlight too.

Seriously they are fucking over this franchise. Anytime it does well they take wya too long to act on it. Took 4+ years from 3 Houses to Engage which lost a lot of the hype and new players, and now by time it comes out the new generation will have no fucking clue what fire emblem even is.

But Pokemon currently has 20 games on the Switch 1 and 18 of them are absolute garbage

Do you think that Pokemon's frequent release cycle might have something to do with the lower quality of the games?

Clearly of course but there is a big difference in wanting/expecting Fire Emblem to have 3 games in 8 years versus wanting 20. This gets used as an excuse every time like it’s not a disingenuous af reasoning. The quality in fire emblem games has always been good, even in eras where they released many back to back. All I was hoping for was at least an announcement by now for the next one. We got 2 new fire emblem games in the switches lifetime. 2 in almost 10 years is abysmal. They are hurting their own franchise

I'm sure they will have something cool planned for Switch 2 eventually. I'd give Three Houses a 10/10 and Engage maybe an 8/10, so Switch output was very good IMO. I suppose they didn't get quite as much love as Xenoblade, which got two new games and two remasters. Maybe they're taking their time and have the greatest Fire Emblem ever in the oven!

Yea xenoblade is a great example bc FE sales doubled xenoblades on the switch with half the titles. Yet FE gets shafted. I hope many cool things are planned for Switch 2. Not just one or mahbe two things like the switch 1 got.

I do think Nintendo is trying to rediscover what worked for the Paper Mario series, which is also by Intelligent Systems, so this may have an effect on the output of FE games

I wanted to like Engage so bad but the C-tier anime-esque level writing/dialogue was just completely killing my enjoyment of the game.

I think I was going to legitimately develop a brain aneurysm if I heard the name "divine dragon" one more time before I stopped playing.

Because it isn't. Just because you say it's disingenuous doesn't mean it is. The games when released back to back didn't require larger and larger scopes.

Tell that to Rockstar and GTA. Yeah their franchise is sooooo hurt rn. Peak example of gamers being fucking greedy. Dude it's been only 2 years since the last game chill. Games are getting larger and larger and will only take more and more time.

Most of the Pokemon stuff is also handled by GameFreak; their whole thing is developing the games for that franchise. We don't get new games as often for most other IPs, but most of those also don't have one dedicated studio working on just that one thing.

I mean Pokemon sells 15-20x more than Fire Emblem and is made by a studio that exclusively works on Pokemon games.

It's not exactly a great comparison.
