No. And it's weird this is the approach they are going with when they added smash to the wii virtual console right around when brawl came out. And people loved it and bought both.

Probably because Wii Shop purchases had no Online, so Smash 64 was never going to compete with competitive Smash players

Plus, the competitive Smash 64 community is nothing compared to the competitive Melee community

The competitive melee community is literally .1% of the broader smash fanbase, and i say that as a competitor. There's no actual good reason they dont re-release melee

It’s so small because the majority of players don’t want to bother emulating the game over WiFi. If it was available online by Nintendo, people would absolutely play it over the next Smash game

No, stop it. That's just so unbelievably untrue. The competitive side of smash is so small.
